I am not sure who you are arguing with. One person said his coaching accomplishments could have played on the voters' decision. You then said he was a lousy coach, a point you have since retracted. I said the NBA has a lower bar than the other HOF and cited reasons why, Russell's testimony among them, having recently coached the 86 Celts, as to why he got in. All we have done is point out he was not a lousy coach as you stated, and how people viewed him an integral to the C's dominance.

I believe he is a member of the HOF in recognition of the Celtics dominance. I expect many a great scoring guard was on the ballot and voters remember KC kicking his ass, so voted for KC when the time came. It is lot to do with the "Celtics Magic" that also got some undeserving Yankees accolades they did not deserve. Why recently a Yankees SS that wasn't even the best player on his team was being heralded the greatest player of all time. Look at Phil Rizzuto's HOF credentials. Satch Sanders is in the Hall as a builder too.

I expect the next role playing guard that wins 8 rings in a row will get in too.

He was inducted as a player in 1989; just a year removed from coaching he Celtics. The HOF inducts coaches and players separately, I don't think they combine cases. For instance, Tommy Heinsohn was inducted twice, once as a player and once as a coach.

Even if you count his coaching career, all he needed to do to win two titles was basically roll out the balls.
I completely forgot about KC and he deserves to be on my list over Bradley as I hadn't realized his collegiate success until you guys pointed it out. NBA Coaches in the HOF to me is a joke with few exceptions like a Pop for example. It is rare these guys make much of an impact.....Lue won a championship while standing on the sidelines petrified for an entire Finals. Luke Walton was the same coach for the Warriors as he is now for the Lakers. It's a players league and always has been.

As far as KC Jones goes, yes it pretty much was rolling out the balls in a similar fashion of Lue last year. In Bill Fitch's 4 years in Boston prior to KC he compiled a 242-86 record with a championship thrown in.......during his other 21 years as a Head Coach he lost more than 50 games in 11 of those years including 4 seasons of 65 or more losses. Same coach.

KC had some good talent in his other stops at Washington and Seattle......he was fired after 3 years in Washington and fired midway through his 2nd year in Seattle after an 18-18 start when George Karl took over and finished up 27-15 to lead them to the 2nd round of the WC playoffs. I'm not saying he was incompetent but it is clear that his bosses felt that he underachieved (and was proven so by what happened once Karl took over) only that he is like nearly all Head Coaches in the NBA who are capable of functioning in their job without having a major impact on the W-L record.

I will say that the number of players with 11 NBA/NCAA/Olympic titles is pretty low, such as two. Of course the other guy was on all the teams that Jones won with, and was the actual guy on all the teams Jones won with, but, still...

Jones was not on all eleven title teams.

NBA Championships in 8 to 10-team leagues with no free agency shouldn't carry much weight when you aren't the guy doing the lifting. Once you're the best team it's very difficult to overtake them same as the Yankees in the 50's.

Well, there are like 10 players from those Yankee teams in the HOF.

As I mentioned earlier it is possible to have opportunity for more players on a baseball team to get the AB's IP to make HOF standards than for basketball players to be touching the ball enough to prove themselves.
