A wee bit surprised to see Rei in the top 10. I liked the draft pick, but don't think his tools play up that much. Nice to see different valuations by different publications.

Nothing else really jumps out as a surprise. BP loves tools. The Espinoza cat is certainly out of the bag, though. He'll be as well known as Urias or Giolito heading into Spring Training.

That U25 list is incredible. What a time to be alive.

I completely understand that TINSTAAPP and that, at 17, there are plenty of bends ahead in the River Espinoza, but I am finding it very hard to mitigate my enthusiasm. He has a legitimate chance to be a poor (or even middle-class) man's Pedro Martinez. That upside alone, for me, justifies at least the #2 ranking.

Could put this in various threads but I'll drop it here. Not sure how to do the fap emoji on my phone.

From Law's most recent chat:

CubFanBudMan: Is there much of a chance of Espinoza being the top pitching prospect a year from now? Will he see AA this year?
Klaw: Can’t imagine they push him like that – I think it’s unreasonable to expect an 18-year-old to get to AA, especially when he’s on some kind of innings limit. It is reasonable to think he will be the top pitching prospect a year from now; assuming Giolito, Glasnow, and Urias all graduate, I think Espinoza might be the favorite.

I know they'll probably deal some of these guys for established major league talent, but I'm just longing for when the Sox' major league roster includes:

C - Swihart, Vazquez
1b - Shaw, Travis
2b - Moncada
SS - Bogaerts
3b - Devers
OF - Betts, JBJ, Benintendi
SP - Rodriguez, Espinosa, Kopech (hopefully he gets his act together)

They could have a fully homegrown group of position players, who would all be good. It would be true with Pedroia still at 2b and Moncada maybe at 3b or as a backup. Just so much talent there, it's astounding.

Of course, like I said, I bet some of these guys get dealt, which will be a bummer.

I was about to point out that the Red Sox control Pedroia for two years longer than they control Bogaerts, but I see you mention him in your addendum.

A bit off topic...
Sox Prospects has outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe at #8. Not to be confused with his twin brother, infielder Luis Alejandro Basabe who they have at #40. I did about four double-takes when I saw those names. Who names their kids like that, besides George Foreman?

And then there are Manny Ramirez's kids Manny Jr and Manuelito. People were sure the third kid was named Manny too, but somehow he turned out to be Lucas.
