Didn't that happen at one of these? Maybe at the Pats' last SB victory parade? (Getting hit, I mean, not in the eye.)
Yeah, also pretty sure a flag on a Red Sox WS trophy was damaged by a flying beer can.

Also this:

Too much talk about a repeat. Enjoy this one for now.
I know we've said it over and over, but it's just insane how wildly spoiled we are in the past 23 years. 13 titles!??!!?

Anyway, I hope the Celtics coaches and players got to enjoy these last few days before they have to start to look ahead to 2025, and I'm glad that's their mindset. No days off and all that.

But as a fan, I've seen too many Helmet Catches and Tatum sprained ankles and Boone HRs to take any of this for granted. Yes, these Celtics are young and pretty soon the conversation will shift to the next level -- how many titles will the Jays win, where will they rank in history, etc. -- but for now I'm able to just sit back and enjoy one of the greatest seasons in NBA history. We fucking did it. The 2024 banner will hang from the rafters forever, no matter what happens from here on out.

It‘s not like there is some secret formula to repeating as champs. Some teams/coaches embrace the talk and make it a mission, others don’t even want the trophy on display the following season. Turn the page and all that.

It will all come down to talent, health, luck. Same as it always does.

Yeah, they openly talked about getting number 18 all year so it wouldn’t be much of a pivot to say ‘now we want 19!’

This is definitely true. It's not like the Patriots repeated in 2004 but fell short In 2005 (or 2015) because of some mystical decisions in the offseason about how to talk about the prior championship.

Again, as a fan this is why I want to savor this one as much as possible -- winning a championship always takes a remarkable combination of talent, health, and luck, with the 3rd factor being uncomfortably relevant year after year.

what a show that was. Even the broadcasters didn't want to shut it down. The fans were still spilling out of the bars and carousing in the streets, the street reporter was bringing her photographer up to talk on-camera, the superfans with dyed neon green hair were waxing poetic. How often do we get to see that much unbridled joy in one package? That was fun as all hell.

I did think that one of Mazzulla’s statements was funny - that the Celtics were essentially already behind all other teams in getting ready for next season because they’re still playing. Or was that Brad?

It was priceless to see Jaylen beaming like that. He can come across as brooding, but he was all joy today.

Same here. He’s been my favorite Celtic since he was drafted, largely because I’m partial to Cal.* I did like his stepping up to more leadership this year, including the “I want to cover the alpha dog scorer on the other team” attitude and saying that to Mazzulla all year.

*I love Tatum and all the rest also. Great team first team.

I think he said that on Pardon My Take.

It's weird - for the Sox and Pats, the parades were fun celebrations and it was cool to see them carousing and sharing the excitement with the fans. But with the Celtics, especially Brown, Tatum and Horford, it makes me happy that they look so happy.

Thats basically because we watched that trio struggle for YEARS to break through.

Maybe the closest to that was Troy Brown in 2001, or Tim Wakefield in 2004? Bergeron in 2011?

I remember this as a Belichick-ism as well.

HOUSTON -- The Patriots stormed from behind to win Super Bowl LI 34-28 over the Atlanta Falcons in improbable fashion, engineering the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history as Tom Brady shattered records en route to his fourth Super Bowl MVP award.

There is plenty to celebrate, but if you're Bill Belichick, there's no time to waste sitting around trying to be excited about winning a fifth Super Bowl with the Patriots (and seventh Super Bowl overall).

In fact, Belichick is already starting to turn away from the 2016 season and towards 2017 because the Patriots, due to their deep playoff run, are "five weeks behind" everyone else for next year.

"As great as today is, in all honesty, we're five weeks behind 30 teams in the league in preparing for the 2017 season," Belichick said Monday morning at the Super Bowl MVP press conference.

He's not wrong. Teams have turned their attention to the NFL combine (starts in a few weeks), NFL free agency (March) and NFL Draft (late April, not as far away as you'd think). The NFL cycle is a quick one, and if you aren't working in the offseason, you're not going to win in the regular season.

"If you don't do a good job with your football team in February, March and April, you're probably going to see that in January," Belichick said.

And it's not only that we watched them struggle, we watched the Jays literally grow up together. That's something baseball doesnt really offer.

We're going to get video of one of these guys pulling a Napoli through the streets of Boston tonight, aren't we?

That's why Mavs fans should be thankful Doncic didn't win this time around. I think he'll go FULL Napoli and end his career the day he wins a ring. If you think he's pudgy now...

In honor of Duck Boat Day.

This is not the greatest comment in the world.
It's a tribute.

Look into Al's eyes, it was easy to see
Jay and Jay make two, now we have eighteen. It was destiny.

Anyone know how & why portnoy was on one of the boats?
Same reason Charlie Moore seemed to be on one...chucklefuck Boston media types find their way up there. Love it, or more likely hate it, Barstool has a big following. Moore on the other hand must have compromising photos of someone, because I'm not sure how the hell that guy is still on television.
