Tell me if I’ve lost my mind.

My 2 boys (5 &8) and I are flying into Logan at 10:15 on Friday. This is not to see the parade - we’re visiting my family on the Cape and have had these tickets for months. At 2, we have to be on the Provincetown Ferry from Long Wharf. If we don’t check bags, we could haul ass, hop on the Blue Line to Govt Center, and haul ass to an Uber when the parade’s over.

do we have any chance of getting a worthwhile spot on the route and/or are we getting stranded downtown?

The last part is the problematic part. I'd do the Blue Line on the way back too. (Green to Govt, Blue to Aquarium)

Just don't be stubborn on the spot or time leaving. You could theoretically watch them very close to Bowdoin and even walk to Long wharf

I think you could probably take the Silver Line to South Station then walk to a spot on Tremont Street next to the Common. I was there for the 2013 Sox parade and it was relatively easy to find a spot, but maybe Friday will be different. From there you could either take the T (green line from Park St to Govt Center, blue line to Aquarium) or walk to Long Wharf.

This sounds totally doable to me. Blue Line to Gov't Center, watch parade from City Hall Plaza somewhere, extremely easy walk (like 10 min tops) to Long Wharf. The tough part will be getting to parade route by they time it rolls by. Figure its 15 minutes off plane, at least 20 to blue line, probably 20ish to Gov't Center. You'll probably make it, but will be tight.

How far can you carry all the bags and a 5 year old?

Everyone who is going - have a blast. Please be safe and careful though. These big public gatherings can be scary.

Is there a later ferry? Or do those get booked months in advance? (I don’t go to the cape pretty much ever)

For you Rhode Islanders, the Town of Johnston is cooking up something for Joe Mazzulla. It’s still being worked on but keep your ears open. Usually some players who are still in the area join in stuff like this so it could be really cool.

There it is: NBATV is now listing coverage of the parade Friday, with a pre-parade starting at 9:30, and the parade itself starting at 11. The whole thing wraps up at 1:30. All times Eastern. That’s a lot of coverage!

Yeah anyone bringing kids, keep them close. It's super easy to get separated. I lost my 11to brother when I was 15 at the 1984 city hall ceremonies (pre duck boat era). He had the brains to find a cop who called home. No need to let that worry keep you away, just make sure that the kids know to stay right next to you.

Good news is that the duckboats are nice and tall, so you can keep a safe distance and still see what's going on, even for the little ones.

What's going on on the pre-parade?

Watching the players arrive, watching the trophy arrive, gawking at the size of the crowd from 10 different camera locations, that type of thing. Would be nice if they say a few words before hopping on the vehicles, but not sure if that'll happen or not.

What Jimbo said, from what I've seen on TV coverages for Patriots and Red Sox parades. I've never seen a Celtics one. As I recall, they'll have some media people from the local team (maybe Cedric the Cornbread, or Scal?) and people from NBATV for this. Maybe working together? We''ll find out.

I'm hoping for some entertainment as great as Tom Werner's cheer in 2013:

Oh wow. I had either blocked this out or never seen it but it is CRINGEY. He might have gotten away with it if he had known the actual rhythm, or remembered the clapping that goes with it. As its stands it comes off like Thurston Howell trying to rap along to Hit 'em Up...

For those of us not able to get to the Parade, what do you all think would be the best channel to watch?

Anyone know where one can get the caricature shirt that Kornet is wearing? Looks like it is the full team vs. the lame one Fanatics has.

Trapper Jr and I are at the Commons, right by the TV stage area. Crowd is big and getting bigger. And the clouds of pot smoke are thick…
Can confirm. I’m across the street from you with my daughter. Nice day for a parade.
