It kind of looks like there is no defender at first and the two people standing there are the baserunner and 1st base coach.
Here's a much bigger version from the Library of Congress:

White Sox are fielding and wearing white socks, while Red Sox are batting and wearing red socks. The two guys at first base are wearing different colored socks.

Just stumbled upon this little gem, and immediately put it on my ballpark bucket list:  Parque Municipal de Beisbol Jose Aguilar y Maya in Guanajuato, Mexico, which is a drop-dead gorgeous colonial city north of Mexico City.

Yeah, it probably has something to do with this ballpark having the single most beautiful outfield backdrop I've ever seen.

I really hope that rock wall is in play.  Imagine the angles!

Yeah, that's right.  So that makes ten defenders.  I think Peter King sums it up best: "Weird."

If you look at the shadows of the two nearest outfielders they are at a distinctly different angle, making it a patchwork photo, I think.

Seriously?

It's a panorama stitched together from three separate photos, presumably taken sequentially, so an extra guy could be the same guy twice.

110 years ago to the day, Boston (AL) v. Chicago (AL), at South Side park. Really struggling to figure out the defensive alignment here:

By the way, this picture is in the second inning of Ken Burns' 'Baseball' (at about the 14:10 mark).
