I’m rooting for Minnesota. They probably deserve it the most among the 8 possibilities.

It is going to be Toronto though, I’m convinced of it.

Wait I wasn't paying attention. How come it's not the 5 worst teams with the chance to get the first pick?

Lol what?

There’s zero chance Toronto trades Matthews for a LWer.

Marner or Nylander? Maybe. They’re not trading their franchise C.
You are probably right, I was just spitballing. Toronto is probably going to shake things up this offseason. It's probably fair to say anyone is available outside of Matthews and Taveras. In a vacuum, Matthews is a player you would not think of moving but given his off the ice issue this past offseason that possibly could factor in whether he's the right guy to build around. If I was the Rangers, I'd have to be told no on him before I move on to somebody else.

Matthews isn’t getting g traded, but II wouldn’t do that if I was New York. They have 3 years of Lafreniere on an ELC. That’s probably more valuable than $11.6 million of Matthews.

They could probably dangle Krieder for a center if they want, but I think you just stay the course, draft Lafreniere and figure it out as they go on.

Penguins keep Sullivan but fire all the assts.

Mike Sullivan will return as coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins for a sixth season, but three of his assistants will not be back.
The Penguins announced Wednesday that Mark Recchi, Sergei Gonchar and Jacques Martin will not have their contracts renewed. The contracts expired at the end of June but were temporarily extended for the Stanley Cup Qualifiers.
"Obviously, this is a difficult day for me. More difficult than you guys can imagine," Sullivan said. "I know how hard these guys work. These guys are good coaches, and they're my friends. We've been through a lot together as a group. But when teams with high expectations, such as ours, don't have success, then change is inevitable.
"We all have to take responsibility for it. It starts with me."

We have to take responsibility and it starts with me so we're firing everyone else is something.

Wonder if there's space here for Recchi. Worked out nicely last time...

Seems like Recchi had success as Director of Player Development(both cups) but not as an Assistant Coach(since). Maybe give him an office at Warrior Arena and throw promising young forwards at him.

If anyone can help us over the top, the voting for Kraft Hockeyville in Canada started about an hour ago. One of the four finalists is Tyne Valley, PEI, the only one that will be looking to use the $250,000 winners’ prize to rebuild their arena (the old one burned down just after Christmas). The link to the website is here, and there are no voting caps.

Hate to see it.

That comment was awful and unprofessional, and combined with his comments on Tuukka (which were not nearly as bad as this, but still unprofessional) and his general awfulness as a broadcaster, this might be the best news of the postseason.

One of the announcers was talking about how the bubble is a good place for players to be with their teammates, and grow and focus as a team, and Milbury said, "There's not even any women around to distract them."

They were talking about how younger teams specifically were faring better so far in the bubble, as they didn't have young families at home to be worried about, and was a chance to just bond with your teammates. Milbury chimed in there weren't even any women around to distract them...I was watching in real time, and while it was a somewhat clumsy wording, didn't really have a problem with it. I mean, he's technically not wrong, and I hate the guy and think he brings absolutely nothing to a broadcast.

Gotta agree with the Cetacea guy here. It's stupid but is it offensive?

Coupled with him being one of your "premier" announcers bemoaning playoff OT hockey and wanting it to just end.

This was another bad look for Mike in a short couple of days.

One too many bites at the apple for him.

It implies that obliquely, but then doesn't the no families imply that kids are no value, just a distraction and players aren't mature enough to be around their kids but still be professional?

I could see someone saying it's offensive as it implies strictly heterosexual distractions are a problem

He also commented earlier in the playoffs on the empty stadiums being like a women’s college game.

like his more recent comments there’s probably some truth if you don’t want to dig deep or have any introspection.

He’s made it clear how he feels about women in a general sense (not on a personal level). Lets see if nbc/nhl wants to go along with that.

Definitely offensive
It’s stupid AND offensive.
Appreciate the input.

The fact that young guys have no families to distract them doesn't imply the kids have no value. It implies the exact opposite.

Also, non-hetero people can have kids.

Milbury's comment is some "women are just temptresses there to make your knees weak," silliness. He sucks and has always sucked.

Ooops. Mike stepped in it. Not the right climate for hot takes. He doesn't bother me the way he bothers some people but I think he is joining J.R. in the unemployment line. Can we get a hot mic on Jack Edwards?
