Brewers got a run on a sac fly caught kind of near the first base dugout. Nobody covered home plate.

Kind of a big run too because it tied the game.

Dr. Sticks is operating! Triston McKenzie was sent back to AAA two months ago to try to recover from a case of the yips. In the 8 starts since his return, he has a 3.49 ERA and only walked 8. His line over his last two starts: 15 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 19 K. That included the hat trick against Ohtani today.

As someone whose favorite player for many years was Omar Vizquel, I really try to just root for the laundry -- especially in the age of social media, we know many of these guys we root for are really just assholes. However, I watched McKenzie pitch in AA and every time I hear him interviewed I come away more impressed. He's someone really easy to root for, and some of his pitching problems were a lack of confidence that he belonged in the same league as some of the great players he grew up watching.

Padres with just one hit through 8, down 3-1 to the Phillies again. If this holds, the Reds take over the second wild card spot by a game, SD still with 19 left against LAD/SF.

Padres score 2 in the 9th and 1 in the 10th to win 4-3. Why wasn’t Orsillo calling the game? Saturday FOX duty?

Braves up 5 on the Phillies and 7 on the Mets in the NL East.

Cronenworth with the game tying 2 run homer with 2 outs in the 9th on Nola’s 117th pitch. Would love to know the last time a pitcher gave up the lead in the 9th on pitch 117 or higher.

Nicely done, Padres. The billionaires of this country could facilitate that every day to the malnourished. And they would still be billionaires.
Looks like it was down at multiple stadiums (raiders stadium) and RESTAURANTS throughout the US (TSYS went down and it caused a shit show it seems)

Gray News) - One of the nation’s largest credit card processors says it’s systems are back up and working after an outage affected customers all over the United States.

TSYS updated its status to “all systems operational” at midnight Sunday. So far, there is no word on the cause of the outage.

The credit card processor first reported its systems were down at 9:30 p.m. ET Saturday. Twenty minutes later, the company said it had identified the problem and was working on a fix.

Businesses from restaurants to ballparks took to social media to inform customers that they were not able to accept credit card payments at the current time.

The Phillies aren't dead yet because they have such an easy remaining schedule, but it's going to be tough. Losing this one is brutal.

Giants broadcast got the stat a while later that it was the first time in MLB history that a team erased a lead in the eighth inning or later with a pinch hit homer in back to back games.

I had to research this to ensure it was true because it’s especially. First off, I found this fun game—both teams had a PH go-ahead homer in the 8th or later, only such game I could find.

Secondly, might be the case in Giants history as far as I could research it, but not MLB—the Phillies did it over the Pirates on September 11th and 12th of 1974. If the criteria involves the road, that happened too, with the Cubs over the Expos in 1982, September 18th and 19th. Cubs returned to this glory on August 21st and 22nd of 1985. Mets and Cardinals in 2002 had some fun with this, swapping these roles on 4/24 and 4/25; ditto Cards and M’s 7/2-3/19. Cardinals did it both dates 9/5-6/09.

MLB is keeping you busier than usual lately. It's been The Sox have been kind of boring in that sense this year.

Just wanted to say that I've seen your Tweets show up in some random places lately, like The Athletic and such, and I know how hard you've worked to get where you are and every time I see Jessica Brand pop up somewhere I get super excited for you. Keep it up!!!

You have incredible baseball stats mining capabilities! Elias Sports Bureau?

Some, or at least one of the games you cite involved home runs breaking a tie in the eighth inning or later. The Giants home runs resulted in them coming from behind and taking the lead in the eighth inning or later in back to back games. That's the record they apparently set today.

There
Why wasn’t SF RP Tyler Rogers credited with a Hold in this game? He protected the one run lead they’d just taken by pitching a scoreless 8th. Guy before him got the W, guy after got the Save. Neither MLB dot com nor the esPn credits him with one.

Just wondering but is there a site like the former coolstandings showing playoff odds, strength of remaining schedule, etc? I used to like looking at that when the races were heating up in September.

Talk about disrespect: The Athletic’s weekly power rankings: 1. Dodgers (3 games behind SF); 2. SF; 3. Tampa. 4. Houston

Yanks are 7th, up from 9th.
They’re just trying to be edgy. We all know Yankees are the favorites. It will be an honor to just advance far enough in the playoffs to share the same field with them!

You are a step behind, VORP! It’s the Dodgers who are now the Evil Empire. They are ranked first over the first-place Giants. Yanks are just trying to stick to a budget. They want to become the Rays in terms of game strategy. No more Chapman in the ninth for your boys. Nestor Cortes is your kryptonite. How did the Rays miss him?

Ty France with late game heroics for SEA for the second straight game, tying the A's with a leadoff HR in the 9th against Trivino. 3-3 now.

And now Trivino gives up a single and a double off the wall, SEA continues to somehow keep their season alive.

Thanks! This message keeps getting me pumped up…so I make it a constant grind until an RSN or ESPN or similar hires me. Besides, I see it my duty to give back to any amazing community, just as baseball has done to me.

Stathead and some good coding I learned this past offseason during COVID/being at home for 18 months. Someday it’ll be them!

All the Sox can hope for now is a one game playoff with maybe Sale pitching against a well rested and set up Cole at the Toilet v2.0. May Sale pitch the game of his life that day.

Sale vs 1 inning each from 9 Rays pitchers at the Trop. Winner goes to the Bronx.

Nelson Cruz is playing his first game at first base tonight, in career game 1,852. That is the 7th most games all time until having played first, trailing the following players: Dick Groat 1,854, Pie Traynor 1,906, Don Kessinger 2,030, Carlos Beltran 2,076, Miguel Tejada 2,122, and Goose Goslin 2,245.

Number listed is career games number in which they played first, not games until.
