Ugh, does Grunting Robbie Ray and his super tight undersized kid's uniform pitch every other day? I hate having to look at / listen to him, seems like he's always on the mound for them.

I know these things are impossible to control and you play who you play in October, but I‘d bet Milwaukee would be thrilled staying as the #2 seed in the NL. The Giants would get the winner of Dodgers/Padres while the Brewers play the NL East winner.

Tatis returns as the right fielder vs AZ and goes 4 for 5 including 2 HRs, a double and 4 rbi.

Oof, the Mets are 0-10 with RISP against LAD and Scherzer, through just 4 innings.

Slappy on the LA front office: “The Dodgers are playing chess. They don’t make big mistakes.”

Right. Because someone else signed Trevor Bauer.

Well, for A-Rod, giving hundreds of millions of dollars to a rule breaker is a feature.

You could seriously transcribe his commentary of any game and find I bet 50 minimum factual errors. He just keeps rolling, the only time I have ever heard him be good is when both Cone and O'Neill (one is not enough) were in the booth with him and he had to stop his stream of consciousness gibberish for once.

No, Alex, this garbage time in a 9-2 game is not the 'first three innings' of next weekend's series, it does not 'set the tone' for next weekend. Oy.

Mets using two different position players to pitch to get through the 9th really set the tone for next weekend.

I don’t think it’s what people want to hear, but the NL WC is not a done deal yet, the Reds are only 2.5 games back and, per this Ringer analysis, they have a much easier remaining schedule. I don’t think anyone outside of the greater Cincinnati area is rooting for them, but the opportunity is there. Would also be wild if the Padres missed the playoffs altogether after all of their moves.

The second place team in the NL East is still lurking too, although I think the Mets will fall out of it in the next ten days.

This is the first season in MLB history with six losing streaks of at least 12 games. Dbacks and Orioles have each had two such streaks. Rangers and Cubs too

Yeah, I may have jumped the gun big time on the NL Wild Card. The Reds crushed the Cubs tonight and the Rockies just walk offed the Padres. 1.5 GB.

The Cards are also quietly trying to sneak in, six wins in a row.

Pretty lazy security at Oracle Park. Fan ran on the field (they showed the whole thing on TV). He got to the pitchers mound and pretended to throw while security just kind of watched. They finally tackled him when the fan ran straight at them.

Guards wanted to wait to see whether he could be better than anyone of their staff

Did you think it said Oriole Park? The Giants’ pitching has somehow been great.

The Braves and Mets did one of those Freaky Friday body switches at the All Star break.

Atlanta: 20-11
New York: 12-20

Atlanta has built up a little 2.5 game lead over Philly now.

As expected, Jake Arrieta’s debut with the Padres was a disaster. Gave up 5 ER in 3.1 and left the game with an injury.

Slam Diego gets swept by the Rockies and are really struggling.

CIN wins, SD down 3-0 to PHI in the 3rd. If SD loses, CIN pulls even with them for the second wild card.

The last four times Castellanos has been HBP, Joey Votto has come up next and homered.

Albert Pojols just hit his 15th homer of the season. LA is wearing solid Dodger blue uniforms today, both pants and jerseys which I don't recall seeing from them in the past. Jogging around the bases he looked like an NFL lineman in his Thursday night color rush uni.

Edit...Ahhhh City Connect unis. That explains it.

Pujols' previous HR off Rich Hill came in 2007, 11 teams ago for Hill.
