The Orioles hit 4 HRs in the first off McHugh, and Miley gave it all back before they even got up a second time, 6-5 HOU in the second now.
I somehow had missed that Mark Trumbo was 7 for his last 34. Which isn't great.

Except all 7 hits are homers.

edit: before tonight: he just singled to break his streak.

Carlos Gomez got called up today by Texas, and hit a 3 run HR in his first AB for them tonight. HOU and their fans cannot be happy about that.

He looked terrible for the Astros.
Yeah, I'm not saying they should have kept him, I'm saying that HOU and their fans have to be pissed that they are paying him and he is already helping the team leading their division.

Weird play in the Cards-Mets game. Cespedes slides into third with the pitcher Wainwright covering on a bloop to left.
Wainwright tags him but the glove stays on the base under Cespedes foot and there is no hand in glove. Ump rules safe.
Cards announcers are sure this should be an out, you know, because he tagged him before his hand immediately came out of the glove.
Review says the the call on the field was correct. Possession of the ball and glove must be maintained through the play.
Cespedes then scored on an error and a 3 run HR by De Aza (5 rbi) pretty much finished Waino off.
It's now 7-2 Mets.

Twins' outfielders collide on the left-center warning track, the leftfielder Grossman knocking Bautista's flyball out of centerfielder Santana's glove. Two sacrifice flies later, the Blue Jays lead 1-0.

The Twins are so, so bad.

So, he did it again. Guyer has 28 HBP...Don Baylor holds the AL record with
35 set in 1986, but Baylor also managed to get in the way in 1987 w/ 28!

Toronto up early on Baltimore. An Orioles loss drops them into a tie with Detroit for the second wild card spot, a game up on Houston. Tigers and Astors already have wins today

Yankees about to pass the inept Royals in the WC standings.

Hard to believe this is the defending WC champs. They are garbage in every aspect of the game - offense, starting pitching, bullpen, baserunning, fundamentals etc. The horseshoe has finally fallen out of Ned Yost's ass.

Is it just me, or does this season feel like one of the bigger ones for lack of late-season division competition? Using Fangraphs for Division Winner odds:

Cubs/Nats / Rangers are at >98%. Indians are at 90%. The races there are more or less over (and yes, Detroit has a chance, just not a very good one)

So you've got:

Blue Jays / Sox (60/36%)
and
Dodgers / Giants (73/27%)

The WC still keeps it competitive interesting, it just feels like 4 of the 6 divisions are decided earlier than typically

Blue Jays are that much of a favorite for the division? I guess that's fair with 2 back and 29 to go...

To me, it's as simple as the 6 games remaining (Sox / Jays). Split, Jays retain the 2:1 odds for the division. Sox win 4/6, division back to 50/50. Jays win 4/6, Jays win the division.
