Excited for the ESPN and TNT bidding war for Pierre.

I am going to miss Tirico calling hockey. NBC has a thin sports package outside of football season in non Olympic years.

The Sabres were 10-5-0 going into the Ryan Miller game coming off a 96 point playoff season the year before.

The Sabres were up 1-0, Lucic ran Miller, the Bruins won the game 6-2 and kicked off a decade of futility for Buffalo. They crashed and burned to finish that season and have not even come close to a playoff appearance since.

Yep - truly the beginning of the end for Ruffalo. Miller's post-game meltdown calling "Loochick" chickenshit was great, given none of his teammates had his back - including Tyler Myers and Gaustad being on the ice when it happened.

I legit didn't know Miller was still in the league. If I was a Buffalo fan I would hate Lucic forever for what he did to that franchise. There was a point where Miller was an absolute brick wall.

He was 31 when Lucic ran him over. I think he's in the Hall of Good But Not Great. His best year was 09/10 when he won the Vezina with a .929. It also coincided with the 2010 Olympics which he was awesome. That stretch is an outlier in his career though and he's basically been an average to slightly above average goalie throughout his career (before he started his age decline).

On the reunion of the 2011 championship zoom last year someone (I think Greg Campbell) said that Looch ruined the Buffalo sabres that night. Interesting to hear that players in the league are talking that way. Iconic moment for Lucic.

Are KT, Sharp, KJ, and Anson expected to move to the new coverage? If not, where would they be headed?

Don’t care about Liam and the rest of the studio team.

I’m guessing ESPN stays in-house for their studio team, using John Buccigross and Linda Cohn, with Barry Melrose for “on-ice” perspective. If any of the studio team is going to wash up anywhere, it’ll be Turner.
