Unless you mean first game for TB within the given season, Archer’s debut with Tampa came well before 2021. Which is likely my misunderstanding.
Nope, I forgot Archer was on TB for many years before, was just thinking 'three newly acquired vets', thanks!!

Yermin Mercedes, who I mention last night had 5 hits in his first start (not his debut, but his first true ML start).... kicked off tonight with a home run in his first at bat.
And another hit, 7-7 now.

Most consecutive at bats with a base hit, 12: Walt Droppo 1952, Pinky Higgins 1938, Johnny Cling 1902. Since the expansion era, the record is 11, done twice: Dustin Pedroia 2016 and Bernie Williams 2002. Red Sox are the only team to be repped on both lists.

Dodgers get their first home run from Zach McKinstry. First time for the Dodgers since 1958 their first home run has come from a player hitting his first home run.

Yermín Mercedes with the easiest ad campaign ever: Swing and a DRIVE...

8/8 now. Think that gives him the most hits within 10 ABs period. Previous I believe was 7 by most recently Wilson Ramos in 2010.

The Astros are just demolishing the A’s this week, looking for the four game road sweep:

8-1
9-5
9-1
5-1 after 3 today.

Ohtani Ks Moncada, but the ball gets away from the catcher and the Angels commit TWO different throwing errors on the play that culminates in Abreu taking out Ohtani at home plate with a slide. Two runners score and the game is tied.

Just saw the replay on Twitter. Looks like he really dodged a bullet. And Stassi needs to catch that damn ball!

I realize it’s quite a change from even five years ago, but why are people who are paid six figures to specifically announce baseball stunned about the amount of arms on every team coming out of the bullpen that throw 95+?

There
And Walsh with the walkoff bomb, but I still would have preferred him to just have picked the throw at first back in the 5th inning.

La Russa has Hendriks and Crochet and lost 3 games this series in the 8th/9th innings, outscored 8-1 in those six innings combined. Good start!

Nelson Cruz hits one just foul (but clearly foul) down the right field line and appeals to the umpires enough that they huddled up and discussed it extensively before declaring it foul. Next pitch, he hits a line drive over the LF wall (114.5 mph exit velocity) for a grand slam.
Sox fans will want to keep an eye on Nelson Cruz this year, as he will likely make a run at David Ortiz' alltime record for most HRs by a 40 year old in a season (38).

He just rocketed another one higher and longer and faster (116.6 mph) than the first. Guy's incredible.

He's fifth all time for most HRs after age 33, behind Bonds, Aaron, Palmeiro, and Ruth.

It may sound old school and I am about to puke because I agree with Harold Reynolds but why pull DeGrom after 77 pitches and 6 innings?

Of course the bullpen allows 5 runs and the Mets are down 5-2.

Left shoulder subluxation. Anyone know the timetable for that? From quickly googling it it seems like not that awful, and he could be back in a couple weeks
The issue is that it isn't the first time he has had this type of injury. This one seems more serious than the previous.

Tatis, 22, left a spring training game late last month with left shoulder discomfort. Tingler revealed after the exhibition that the same shoulder had occasionally given Tatis trouble for years. Tatis would later say he first encountered shoulder trouble in rookie ball, which he played in 2016.
“(The shoulder) comes out, comes back in, so he’s been dealing with that,” Tingler said. “Tonight was the first time we’ve kind of seen it in game action, from swinging or anything like that.”

Tingler said Tatis would undergo an MRI on Tuesday. Prior to further testing, the manager declined to speculate on a timetable or the possibility that doctors will recommend surgery. There was concern Monday night that Tatis might have sustained a labral tear, or aggravated an existing tear. Surgery to repair such damage can come with a recovery of several months, which effectively would end Tatis’ season.

Nats finally get their season going, and Acuna and Freeman homer off Scherzer in the 1st.
