Did anyone else hear the Texas crowd boo Darvish a little on his way out? What's going on there? Dude pitched into the 7th and left with the lead, maybe they know he's leaving.

Are you sure they weren't cheering "Yuuuuuuuuu"?
Heh, didn't occur to me but I don't think so. He got hammered by Toronto in the playoffs last year but so did Hamels and he gets paid twice as much.

You just made me check the box-score. Sigh. He's older, so he'll tire out, but his kind of pitcher seems so much more durable than the flame-throwers. The Sox could really use him. I'm happy for him that he is on a good team, so I don't care where he landed, but I miss him so much as a Red Sox fan.

Dyson just blew his 2nd save against the Indians. Rangers massively overperformed in close games last year, regression is a bitch.

8 ERs in the two outings! He's faced 12 batters and gotten 3 outs total. Come on down, Matt Bush.

Anyone see the Molinda - ball sticking to chest protector play? Help me out...how did the ball stick there? My first thought was some sort of foreign substance, but I am guessing I am over looking something more obvious and less nefarious.

http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/yadier-molina-st-louis-cardinals-hidden-ball-stuck-chicago-cubs-chest-protector-040617

Upon further review, it has to be pine tar right? Which I suppose brings in to question the absurdity of the pine tar rule
I was just coming here to post/ask the same thing. Is there pine tar all over his chest? That makes no sense, otherwise the catcher could doctor the ball easily when throwing it back to the pitcher. And it hit the dirt, not the bat, so it couldn't have come from there...

What stood out to me is Molina and the ump are standing there, having a laugh about it, and the ump kind of gives it a quick second look, but never inspected the ball or his vest. Combine that with the Cubs' lack of official interest in the whole thing, and it's all very strange.

Yeah, the only explanation I can come up with is that he's doctoring the ball before tossing it back to the pitcher. Pretty smart since the pitcher wouldn't have the substance on him if he were to be inspected.

Review in Washington right now on a Zimmerman shot to dead center that bounced off a second piece of fencing behind the on-field fence. Both fences are painted the exact same green color making it super hard to tell what's a dinger and what isn't.

Now ruled a HR. 3-2 Washington.

Guthrie has an ERA of 135.0

Washington's Jeremy Guthrie became the third starting pitcher since 1895 to allow 10 runs while failing to complete the first inning.

Mariners blow a 6-run lead in the bottom of the 9th at LAA, lose 10-9. Now 1-6.

That's amazing, Diaz came in when it was still 9-4 (bases loaded), got the first two guys out, then double/walk/walk/single/single, loss.

Home opener in San Fran. The Giants scored 3 runs on a 45 ft swinging bunt by Matt Moore. Bases loaded and 2 wide throws home. The third D-back throw to the plate was good, but just late.

That's still got nothing on the first inning from a game Red Sox - Marlins in 2003. Poor Carl Pavano faced 6 batters, gave up 6 hits, 6 runs. Replaced by Michael Tejera, who faced 5 batters (all reached and eventually scored). Marlins finally got out of the inning when my namesake was thrown out at home, having given up 14 runs. And maybe Jeremy Guthrie will be signed by the Yankees next year for the equivalent of $38M/4.

Sam Dyson does it again, blows a 5-2 lead in the 9th, extra innings now. He has now given up 11 ERs in a total of 3 IP in 4 outings, 3 games blown.

Mets and Miami in a wild one, Miami scored 4 in the 1st, Mets came right back with 4 in the top of the 2nd and went up 7-4 in the top of the 5th. Then Miami had another 4 run inning to go up 8-7, NY tied it at 8 in the 8th, and then both teams stopped scoring, so they are now 8-8 going to the 16th. 15 runs combined in the first five innings, 1 combined in the last ten.

Heh, and of course as soon as I post, the next batter hits a HR, D'Arnaud to lead off the top of the 16th, 9-8 Mets.

I can't think of any other place to put this question:

Is there a website that lists out each day's full box scores, like a newspaper-style layout? I just want to be able to quickly scroll through the results and not have to click on a link for every game.

I spent far more time that I should have trying to find just such a link a few years ago, and the best I found was USA Today, which had a single click to expand all of the line scores into full box scores. Unfortunately, it looks like they got rid of that option at some point. Unless someone else has added that feature, I think you're probably out of luck.

Chicago White Sox are starting a Garcia at each outfield position tonight.
The keyword in that sentence is starting. The three Alou brothers appeared in the outfield at the same time for the Giants in three games in 1963 but they all didn't start the game.

Pawsox had a 4 Rodriguez Infield a few years back, IIRC
1994 and 1995 the PawSox had five Rodriguez's on the roster: Carlos (47 games)/Frankie (186 IP)/Ruben (18)/Steve (62)/Tony (64) in 1994 and Carlos (40)/Frankie (27 IP)/Steve (82)/Tony (96)/Vic (31) in 1995. Ruben was a catcher, Frankie a pitcher and the others were infielders. So it is certainly possible that they had four on the field at the same time (and maybe even five but someone else can dig through the box scores).

It's cool that they were all in the outfield at the same time. I don't get why it's less interesting or noteworthy if it wasn't in the first inning.

It's just that what happened with the White Sox and the Garcias is the first time that there were three starting outfielders with the same last name (and I managed to misspell "the" in two different ways in this sentence...thank you, splellchecker). Personally, I think it more interesting that three brothers played at the same time for the same team.

Very odd, was just coming to post the same. Love that baseball produces these weird occurrences.

In a game filled with weirdness (check out the box score), this play in the Astros-A's game stands out

Correa safe at first on error by shortstop Rosales, Springer scored, Bregman advanced to third on Rosales error, Altuve advanced to second on Rosales error, Bregman scored on error by center fielder Decker.
