The Cubs are starting Kris Bryant in CF today. A position he has never played before.

Edit- correction he never played it in the minors, he played a handful of games there in college.

Pirates are happy.  Rizzo tries to bunt against the shift in the first at bat & Locke makes a nice play on it.

@TonyRBranco: All started because of Ventura barking at a hitter for hitting a hard comebacker at him. Yup.

@TonyRBranco: Ventura walked towards Adam Eaton after he fielded his hard hit grounder and saidF*** You as Eaton ran down the line. This kid is nuts.

Ventura needs to grow the fuck up the most

I like it. The Royals are playing with some swagger.

This thing with the CWS goes back to prior series.

Didn't see it, and relying on Twitter is risky, but if Ventura started it over a comebacker, that's not swagger, that's insanity.

@MLBONFOX: Chris Sale, Jeff Samardzija, Lorenzo Cain, Edison Volquez and Yordano Ventura have been ejected from the game. #WhiteSox #Royals

I just flipped over to the CWS broadcast and caught Hawk saying "You could tell this was coming.."

So there is some history there.

Yeah but it wouldn't have happened if he doesn't yell "Fuck you" to Eaton as he runs past him to first. The ball was hit hard, so in a way it reminded me of Clemens throwing the broken bat. Almost like he was pissed off that he had to react quickly and took it out on the hitter. I think he's just a crazy douche though (sort of like Clemens).

That's silly. How about we wait until the reporters do their jobs to pass judgement?

VIDEO: Bench-clearer! http://t.co/nVGgRpoQvs http://t.co/CSkulA7pvw

Days after nearly getting murdered on a baseball diamond by Mike Trout, Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura successfully started a fight after taunting Adam Eaton following the White Sox outfielders come-backer. Some haymakers were throwna rarity in a baseball brawlbut few landed. As you can tell, though, Hawk enjoyed himself.

Wow, just saw the video. SOMEONE on the Royals has to get Ventura to stop being an asshole or he will get himself and his teammates hurt.

I look forward to you lauding Ventura's swagger the day he plants one on Pedey's wrist.

Oh come on. You say this as if you didn't watch Pedro hit Yankee after Yankee and throughly enjoyed it.

He would not be able to pull this shit if he was in the NL. Instead his teammates are getting the short end of the stick

I mean, I see what you are saying here, but this seems.... different.  Pedro used the inside part of the plate and wasn't afraid to hit guys, but it led to intimidation which helped make him a better pitcher.  Plus, by the time Pedro got to the Sox he was established as one of the best in the game.

Ventura seems to be doing this because he is an angry little shit, who can't control his own emotions.

Yeah, Pedro is too smart to ever say "I didn't hit them on purpose," it helps put some fear in the minds of the hitters. And, while I'm sure he hit plenty of people on purpose before, the wrists of Jeter/Soriano in that game I truly don't think were intentional. He was throwing inside to get them out and it's their fault if they don't get out of the way.

Venture is a lot different. He isn't showing swagger, he's showing he's an idiot and an asshole. He started a fight his last start against the A's too. They need to suspend him. He's not responding to issues on the field, he's picking fights with everyone he encounters.

Lots of people felt that way about Pedro too. Pedro was just able to back it up with being the best pitcher of his generation.

There's something so stupid about baseball fights.

They're still fucking awesome though.

Pedro didn't flip out at hitters who grounded out to him because they hit it too hard. Ventura is just nuts.

When Ventura wins 3 cy youngs he might get away with being a douche. Until then, he should work on his douchiness.

He deserves a long suspension for this on the heels of the last incident

Ventura is nuts.

But Pedro reveled in being the guy that everyone hated, and from being on the other side of things, it was fun that he took on that role. And like I said Pedro backed it up on the mound.

I am not saying he is a bad dude (or that Ventura for that matter).

Holy crap. He learned something!
@McCulloughStar: Yordano Ventura was contrite and apologetic. He took responsibility for sparking the brawl. He said he needs to control his emotions better.

for what though?
a suspension for yelling at another player?
He didn't hit anyone, threw no punches,he just talked shit.

I assume Samardzija, and Volquez get suspended though, both were pretty obvious in throwing punches and fueling most of the fight.

(BB2N film breakdown) Adam Eaton was pissed that Ventura quick-pitched him and started barking at Ventura as he was running to first, Ventura yakked back, benches cleared.

Ventura took responsibility because he realized he shouldn't have responded to Eaton.

Fucking knee-jerk reactors should dig deeper than finding stray fucking tweets and going off on moralistic tirades

series of pitches

Ventura hit Abreu in the elbow

Sale hit Moustakas on the arm he move to block pitch from hitting him in the head

In his last three starts, Ventura has started or escalated conflicts with Mike Trout, Brett Lawrie and Adam Eaton.  He was not punished for the first one.  He was fined but not suspended for the second one.  Do you think it's more likely that the league will take the narrow view and only look at his specific words and actions tonight, or that they will notice the pattern and punish him for his increasingly aggressive actions that are leading to increasingly significant risks for lots of other players?  What would you do?

I think Yordano needs a timeout.

No, you can't arbitrarily start suspending guys for talking trash. The Trout thing was nothing, and this should have been nothing.

He didn't do anything against the rules, and the fight started because Eaton and the White Sox bench decided him telling Eaton to fuck off (in response to something Eaton said), was worth emptying the bench for.
