Jeebus, our old friend Jose Iglesias is back then? 4-4, 1 2b, 1 walk and 3 runs.

edit - beaten again, though I never saw that post on my phone?
We should have traded X. Every time we trade a high quality SS, good things happen.

1) Trade Nomar, profit.
2) Trade Hanley, profit.
3) trade Iglesias, profit.

By my count, 9 out of 24 MLB games so far have been shutouts.  Yikes.
The weather at Wrigley today would've resulted in a low scoring environment for an NFL game. I've been home almost half an hour and my hands are still numb.

@bigleaguestew: This is a rough inning for Toronto. HBP, wild pitch, intentional walk, HBP, now a grounder off the pitcher. Yankees up 4-3.

AGoN is now 9-12, 7 runs scored, 5 homers, 6rbi's, .750/.750/2.167/2.927   through three games.  Wow.

Is 5 homers through 3 games an MLB record?  Gotta be close to it.

He really has such a beautiful picture perfect swing. Wish it had worked out with Boston, but yeah we won it all without him anyway.

Mets blooping their way to a 4 run third against Strasburg, big error from Desmond also.

Kind of spoiled what I was hoping would be a great pitching duel. Harvey looks great so far, hitting 97, has 5 Ks.

Trevor Bauer doing his best 2008 Dice-K impersonation.

Through 2 IP:

0 H, 4BB, 5K, 57 pitches. Does look like the ump is squeezing the zone a bit, but Bauer is nibbling.

24.1 innings of no runs.

Where do we find the longest MLB streak without scoring?
http://www.si.com/mlb/strike-zone/2013/07/22/marlins-37-inning-scoreless-streak-is-the-longest-in-28-years

According to STATS, the Marlins' 37-inning drought is the longest in the majors since 1985, when the Astros went 42 innings without a run. Their streak ran from the third inning of a July 13 game against the Mets through three full games (one against the Mets, two against the Expos, with the break intervening) before finally ending in the ninth inning of a July 20 game against the Expos.

The Rays are starting reliever Steve Geltz, in the 4th game of the season. Seems as if the hair brained ideas weren't all Maddon's.

They have 4 starting pitchers on the DL right now, so they're scrambling like crazy. Also, they're playing NL rules this weekend, so I think the idea is if you don't have any actual MLB-quality starters available, then use guys no more than one time thru the line-up and pinch hit for the pitcher every time. Maybe that is hare-brained, but they're pretty much hosed no matter what they do at the moment. .

Cubs and Rockies both have their pitchers hitting 8th today.

Edits:

Rockies pitcher hits a wind-aided double and scores, of course.

Olt comes up with the bases loaded and no outs and grounds out.  The Kris Bryant countdown continues... :)

Soler just made a heck of a play cutting off what looked like it would be a double and throwing out the runner at 2nd.
