Today the Reds won in their last at bat today, the fourth straight time to start their season. Only the 1901 Tigers have done this before.

It's been 122 games and 4578 plate appearances, and to this point teams have hit .233. That would make for the lowest figure in league history.

SEM is 0.0026 so 85% chance the true average is inside the range 0.228-0.238.

Edit: last year's MLB BA is 0.251. Huge difference.

The Flores/Murphy DP combination needs to be seen to be believed.

1) Murphy cuts in front of Flores to boot an easy grounder
2) Flores pauses on routine DP grounder either because he forgot there was only 1 out or he doesn't know how to play SS

I have to think they must be the worst combo in the majors

My brother just learned a valuable lesson about talking shit on Jonny Gomes. Opened his mouth and a solo bomb immediately followed.

How far was that throw, with no bounce? Unreal.
Looks like it was a little> the distance from the 3B bag to first. So, maybe ~ 135 feet? But all momentum going completely away from the target. is the thing of course.

It's not fair that Felix is that good at pitching AND fielding his position.

I was getting ready to post in the PSSSST thread whenen the roof caved in on the As pitcher. Felix is lifetime 19 - 7 against them, with all the accompanying great stats you'd expect. He's in line for the win right now.  Going back and forth between San Diego- Gs and As-Mariners and what a contrast in ballparks. Petco obviously the winner.

@clarkspencer: Henderson Alvarez is having a MRI on his right elbow, according to sources. Would be major blow to #marlins if damage is found.

Seattle took a 7-3 lead into the ninth, and Fernando Rodney imploded.  Now 7-7 and headed for extra innings.

@jonmorosi: #Marlins are more concerned with Henderson Alvarez's shoulder than his elbow heading into today's MRI, source says.

What a weird play at the plate in this Rockies/Giants game. It almost looks like the Rockies' player tried multiple times to jar the ball out of the pitchers glove. And now we have a challenge.

Farrell was important to his success? Not likely but that would be amazing.

pre-season "dead arm" lead to shortened spring.

Either he is underdone....or he is hurt.

I'd much rather be on the outside looking in than be the ones who signed that big contract at the moment.

David Ross gets the IBB in front of the 8th-spot hitter, Lester, who grounds into a force play
