Apologies if this is covered in another thread, but is there a reliable jailbreak for a third generation Apple TV yet? I see a few on the Google machine, but I'm wondering if they are safe, effective and reliable. I really just want to add Amazon Prime, so I'm not looking to do anything crazy. Thanks in advance.

Not aware of any, and there probably won't be. Groups were trying but have given up. Especially now with a new Apply TV version pending in the next couple months, it's doubtful anyone will ever bother with ver 3. I've heard of a couple of minor exploits but nothing remotely close to a jailbreak that would enable Amazon Prime, XBMC/Kodi, etc. I wish there were, as I hate having to use multiple devices. I have a jailbroken Apple TV 2 that I use to run XBMC/Kodi, but the thing is so slow and is limited to 720p. After lots of trial and error, right now the most "efficient" setup I have to access all services is to use an Apple TV 3 for Apple Airplay content, Xbox 360 for streaming cable channels like HBO Go, Starz, etc., and rooted Amazon FireTV for XBMC/Kodi. One of the problems is that even on some devices that have apps for HBO Go or Showtime Anytime, the cable company doesn't allow you to use your subscription on it (i.e. you can't use your Comcast subscription to HBO Go on a PS3 or Amazon FireTV)...very frustrating that even as a paying customer you still can't use your subscription on devices you own.

I've never had this issue with Roku (inability to use subscription).

Roku is no longer a problem, but Comcast used to block HBO Go on Roku until about two years ago. However,  Comcast continues to prevent using their subscriptions for HBO Go on the PS3 App and on Amazon Fire TV.
