Apple mail sync with Outlook

My work’s IT has been incredibly unhelpful with this and I can’t seem to find anything through google, or, more likely, I haven’t hit in the right search terms. All of a sudden my work outlook account stopped working with macbook air’s mail. I called our work’s IT and they have told me they will no longer provide tech support for any computers not supplied by the college. I really hate being stuck with the web version of outlook, but I can’t seem to get it sync anymore. Unfortunately our Its Tech help guides only discuss OWA and connecting to phones. They do not have a tutorial on syncing a mac’s mail app. When I run the mail connection doctor it states that the connection and log-in for my exchange account are fine.

Does anyone have any ideas? I know you would need more info, but I am not really sure what info you would need.

This may sound obvious. But have you deleted the mail account on the mail app and then re-added it? (like what you would do if you got a new computer?

What does the Connection Doctor in mail say, is it seeing the server?

So it's connecting to the server. What's the issue, cannot receive mail, cannot send mail, both?

Is your college using Office365? That's what we are using on our campus and it works with Mail fine.

I can't receive or send mail from Apple Mail on my laptop or home computer. Anytime I want to check or respond to work mail I have to go through the web application. This requires a few extra steps, the search function sucks, and it is slower. I'd much rather just sync it all through Apple Mail (which I did up until the summer when it stopped working).

It does seem like we switched over to Office 365 (though my work computer does not seem to be fully updated yet. Our IT is pretty bad about that kind of thing and it always seems we have multiple computers throughout campus that have not been updated to any new software we are running.

I've tried to set it up both ways, but the suggested route is through Exchange. Neither seems to work. This is strange because, like I said, it had worked before and synced seamlessly on my phone (iPhone) and tablet (iPad).

So does it still work fine on you iPhone and iPad? It's just your MacBook that is a problem?
