I don't know if its been mentioned but I'm noticing a significant reduction in lag time with the camera since the upgrade. Nice unexpected benefit.
Agreed. In fact, I'll go further, they are AWFUL. It looks like Sesame Steet hacked my iPhone.Tony C said:I agree on that, but the rounded corners and boring grey backdrops are not good design choices from the perspective of the modernist look they're going for.
Between that and the keyboard and Safari menu / address area being so light I'm not a huge fan at the moment. I really want the keyboard and Safari stuff darker - once you add the bookmark bar the top area is massive and your eye goes right to it thanks to the light color.GlenMorangie said:Sorry, not yet.
You're not alone, though. Lots of complaints around the internet about this, the "tumbling" icons, etc.
Maybe Apple will augment the motion controls, just don't hold your breath b/c it might not happen quickly.
dirtynine said:One thing I really dislike is that in Safari, the bottom nav (with bookmarks, new tab button, etc.) is no longer persistent. It's hidden unless you're clicking on the edges of the interface. This isn't bad by itself (though it means an extra click to open a bookmark, etc.) but it led to a design decision that I find very wrong: even though you can't see it, there is an invisible bottom target area where the bottom bar used to be - tapping anywhere at the bottom of a web page brings up the hidden bar. This is bad usability; I can see a link, but if I tap it, something unexpected happens (the link doesn't open, but the interface does). It feels wrong and it's training people to expect inconsistent behavior when tapping, which leads to that vague, unsettling feeling that's the bane of UI usability.
How do you test this?derekson said:Apparently a significant number of iPhone 5s units are a few degrees off in gyroscope/accelerometer calibration. Mine appears to be about 3 degrees off of level. I made a genius appointment for Sunday to hopefully get it exchanged for a new one. It's not a huge deal but for any kind of games or apps that use the accelerometer/gyroscope it definitely means imprecise results.
Anecdotally, half the people I know with a 5 that upgraded to ios7 are having this problem. Including me.Van Everyman said:The iMessage glitch where you can't send messages is annoying but shit happens and this will get fixed.
This, however, pisses me off:
Don't talk to shareholders in statements to the customers. I don't fucking care that most people aren't experiencing this. I am and it's important to me that you fix it.
My wife is having that problem.Bongorific said:Anecdotally, half the people I know with a 5 that upgraded to ios7 are having this problem. Including me.

Though, in some cases, it was necessary to also refresh device network settings by way of the Settings > General menu and disabling and re-enabling the iMessage app in Settings > Messages.

My issue isn't with the real estate, but with the interface inconsistency. Tapping on a link should always open a link. Also, scrolling up only brings up the bottom bar if you scroll all the way to the top of the page.derekson said:
Personally I really like this. I hated that stuff always eating up screen real estate.
It might help you to learn that scrolling up on a web page brings up the bottom controls too.
Thank you.derekson said:The page you're viewing is still there, it's just overlaid with the smartsearch bar UI or whatever they call it. You can still search the page by typing into the address bar and scrolling to the "search for X on this page" option at the bottom.
That's not the only problem with iMessage. The service is a joke, it has so many nice features and then shits all over them by losing messages and dredging up months-old messages as "new" just for the hell of it.Van Everyman said:The iMessage glitch where you can't send messages is annoying but shit happens and this will get fixed.
I've read (note: I have not upgraded due to this issue) that if you turn iMessage off, manually restart your phone, then turn iMessage back on it often works again.bowiac said:Any hope of this iMessage fix coming soon as opposed to six months from now? This has rendered my phone barely useable.
Yeah, this worked the first time, but not the 2nd time. I've just turned off iMessage and am running up text message fees for nwo.canderson said:I've read (note: I have not upgraded due to this issue) that if you turn iMessage off, manually restart your phone, then turn iMessage back on it often works again.

Above all, I resent the fact that Apple has made my iPhone look like a friggin' Happy Meal.
