Anyone looking to buy Google Glass?

I signed up a couple weeks ago for a Google Glass invite, not expecting anything to come of it any time soon. Today I got an email saying I could buy one. Turns out it's way out of my price range ($1,500), but I figured someone here might be interested. The purchase code expires in a week, so if anyone is interested, let me know sooner rather than later.

Unless it changed since earlier in the year I don't think they'll let you transfer the glasses to another user long-term.

When I clicked through the link, it told me if I wanted to sign out and use a different account, I could, so I think it's possible.

I'm pretty sure anybody that's willing to pay $1,500 can request an invite and receive one in short order.

That is definitely not the case. A year ago, I'd have jumped at this. My only reason for not doing so is that Google Glass is expected to be widely available sometime in 2014 anyway.

So we got a few.  Actually cooler than I had thought that they would be, the voice commands are near-perfect but there is no way in hell that I would leave the house wearing those damn things.

Saw about 10 people wearing them at CES.  They were actually less obvious than I had expected.

They definitely weren't as bad as I had thought they could be .

With that said, never would they adorn my face.

Does having a screen essentially in your eye mess up your vision/balance at all?

No, it's actually pretty easy to ignore. But it also shuts off really quickly so it's actually very good from that perspective. You re-activate it by tipping your head back a bit. I think that you can also blink to reactivate but it wouldn't work for me since I was wearing my real glasses underneath.

So one of the guys in my office is committed to wearing them....but barely uses them because he's a geek always in front of a PC.

I suspect this isn't a rare behavior given it's target market

Is he openly mocked or asked to remove them during meetings? I really have no interest in presenting in meetings etc. with people wearing those things / recording them etc.

We don't know what to think. He's a good guy and one who can take a joke so we're more waiting for our time to properly fuck with him. Something will eventually present itself.

Someone brought a pair to my office too and I felt similarly. They didn't feel as bad as I expected. I think I could wear them without feeling funky physically but I still can't imagine wearing them regularly.

The video is pretty good and it's wild how easy it would be to stream your every sight online. I have to believe that these are going to be banned at every ticketed event very, very quickly.

Also the mind boggles at the homemade POV porn that is going to flood the internet when these become widely available.

I've only seen a few videos of what these actually do and I'm still not sure how useful they are. Does anyone know if you could stream something like the MLB app and watch baseball, or YouTube? Personally, I would never wear them in public, however, If I could wear them out by the pool or in the pool and be watching baseball, I would be all over these. I wouldn't think twice.

Eventually they definitely will.  The image that shows up is the equivalent of watching a 40" TV from 6 feet away (I may be off on the specs but close enough).

That will be the clincher for me, floating around in the pool watching Red Sox games ( 3 hour time difference). I'd head down to Best Buy without stopping at a light. I'm not sure they would tolerate the 110+ degree heat for 2 months of the year though.

Watching TV and sports outside or in my hot tub etc would get me interested step too.
I'm in London for a good while, so by the time I'm at a place where I can be outside again we will probably have cleared the issues out etc. I am often torn between being outside in the sunshine and watching sports, esp as things start so early for the west coast.
Going hiking or walking the dogs with the game on sounds awesome.

It was a beta program and was always labeled as such. Why would those people be upset or ripped off? It's not like they need to give them back.
