So, will his wife and kids be there to get his ring? Or are they all contagious? Stay tuned. I really miss Victorino, he's my fifth favorite player. E ola aku!

Never mind, see Corsi above. YAY! (IF TRUE.)

Hopefully they'll put Victorino in one of the luxury boxes, surrounded by a team of nurses wearing scrubs and surgical masks.

MLB Network is really screwing up by not showing the whole pregame ceremony, IMO. They're airing the 2013 World Series film right now until 1 pm, which is all well and good, but they can show that anytime. At 1 pm their new show, High Heat with Chris (Mad Dog) Russo, airs until 2 pm. Why not air Mad Dog at noon and join the festivities at 1?

Hell, why not do it every year for the defending champions? I can't think of a better marketing tool for the sport. It would be far more appealing than the early-season smattering of nondescript day games they're airing. Not every fan (or prospective fan) is going to be so provincial that they'd refuse to watch other teams' ceremonies. Sure, many of us don't want to see the Yankees or Phillies go through their bullshit, but what if it's the Cubs or Indians getting their rings and raising a banner? I think many of us, and a shitload of the sports-viewing nation, would be pretty stoked to see those cities celebrate a winner.

Is Bud in the house? I'm sure it has been a lifelong goal for him to be on the same field as the World Series trophy and the Brewers and this really is as close as its going to get.

Listen, they said you can watch the ring ceremony.  Didn't say anything about listening to it.

I'm pretty sure it was "Thus Spake Zarathusra" (aka 2001 Space Odyssey theme)
It was - though I was actually referring to the music right after that, but thank you!

The audio of this coverage (MLB.Com via NESN) is absolutely terrible.  It has been said by others, and is better than nothing, but it bears repeating.

I like how Ortiz refused to be rushed by the on-field event coordinator, he was going to hug every goddamn person in the organization even if it took him all day.

Anthem sounds godawful.

I'm an Irish-American from Boston.  I love the Sox, Pats and the Bruins. I grew up a punk rocker and one of my favorite bands of all time is The Pogues.

Granted, I'm probably a few years older than their core audience, but if I never hear the Dropkick Murphy's again, well, that would be very nice.  They are terrible.

I guess it wouldn't be a Boston event without the naysayers weighing in.  Personally I loved it.  Thought it was first class all the way.  The Red Sox (and Boston) represent all that is good about America.  Days like today seem to make sense out of all those decades of suffering.

Would have loved to see Schilling there...

The rings look really good, red sox in rubies in front of the World Series Trophy outlined by blue sapphires.

I still remember when Gabe Kapler let me try on his ring after the 2004 parade. Man, what a great decade for sports in Boston.

I sure hope someone got a high quality picture of the 7 trophies being brought in. That will be my background for the foreseeable future.
