If Webster proves that he ready to stick in the majors this time, it will close the book on the Punto trade (roughly on its second anniversary) with the money saved from it better spent on the pieces that brought last year's world championship with 2 live young arms ready to contribute to the next championship ready Sox contender perhaps as soon as next year. Cherington has proven that he knows how to spend all that money coming off the books a the end of this season even better than he did going into 2013. Hembree and Escobar are already a huge haul for Peavy. Escobar is roughly in the same position as Webster and DLR 2 years ago with a measure of upper level patience possibly to be rewarded. For maybe the rest of this season and probably next season, Hembree has the potential to be better than Badenhop and Mujica who are likely soon to be gone. There should be a lot less pressure upcoming down the stretch for Webster than when he was thrust into the rotation for the eventual world champions last season. My gut feeling is that he might finally be in the majors to stay.
