Appreciate @Stanley Steamer offering to share message board space with the unwashed, but we don't deserve that. I hadn't really planned on starting this thread this year but I guess we need something for everyone else to ignore.

I'm just glad Exeter has started with some points in Div. 1. haven't seen them play in many years but since they are out of Div. 2 maybe they will make it on the Ocho or something.
If you really want to see them, ifollow live streams almost all games. You can be an asshole like me and pay $180 for the season or pay $13 a game for any you really want to see. Check out the options.

The Grecian's backbone for their promotion run last year was Wednesday loanee Cameron Dawson who manned the sticks to the tune of 19 shutouts. Sorry we took him back.

Those goals are nuts! My Royals picked up a W in the Championship this weekend. Our manager is now Paul Ince. It's like the Home for Wayward Boys here in Berkshire. Anyway I'm hopeful we avoid any new financial shenanigans and avoid the drop again this season. Anything above and beyond that is gravy. Good to see former lad Michael Olise doing well for Palace. He's already pretty good but I think he might be special, splitting the wings with Eze.

What's been up with Reading the last couple of years? Just the typical boom/bust cycle of Championship squads?

Sunderland manager Alex Neill has resigned in order to take charge of Stoke. His resignation came on the day that cameras returned to the club to start filming the third season of Sunderland Til I Die.
Not to mention new majority owner Louis-Dreyfus was climbing (the Twin Peaks) of Mount Kilimanjaro when he got the news on Friday. He made it back to the directors box for the game on Saturday.

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough for Louis-Dreyfus and Sunderland

There was a time not so long ago when Sunderland fans were questioning the attitude of leading shareholder Kyril Louis-Dreyfus — understandably, they felt misled over the ownership percentages on the board, write Michael Walker and Philip Buckingham. Dreyfus has partially resolved that issue by taking a majority stake in the club, and he has now shown a very different level of commitment to Sunderland.

Dreyfus, 25, was on a pre-planned climb of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on Friday when then-manager Alex Neil drove into the Sunderland training ground to say he wanted permission to speak to Stoke City.

It is not known where Louis-Dreyfus was on the fourth-highest mountain on earth, but the club got the Neil news to him and within 24 hours, apparently via a combination of helicopter and private jet, Louis-Dreyfus was in the directors’ box at the Stadium of Light for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off against Norwich City. Sunderland have been approached for comment.

Footage of his travel will be limited, however. Although there are Netflix cameras back on Wearside, there will be no third series of Sunderland ‘Til I Die. Instead there is a two-part retrospective in production that will update the club’s climb out of League One via May’s play-offs. Neil’s interview on the subject had not been recorded and presumably Netflix will have to go to Stoke City now to get his thoughts.

Seems crazy on the surface, but word is Neil (who I've never been overly impressed by) was getting a big bump in pay at Stoke, both in value and term.

Is there a Cliff Note version for non-subscribers you’d be kind enough to offer?
Gallagher papered over a lot of cracks. With him gone in the middle there just isn’t enough top drawer PL talent especially in attack. PV did well to get the results he did but the acquisitions have been too few and not impactful and there have been some locker room bust ups along the way which haven’t helped.

There was a good pint made re: the other sides in the relegation fight all taking scalps off the big boys once in a while and Palace seeming unable to do that.

Too bad for Vieira. No Black managers in a football league that is nearly 50% Black players.

Is Watt going to join the women’s side? They’re 3rd tier, which would make Watt by far the most accomplished player in the squad.

Last season MK Dons missed being promoted to the Championship by a point (and went on to lose in the playoff). This season they fell into the relegation zone on the final day and have been relegated to League Two. As AFC Wimbledon managed to survive their League Two relegation battle, we will get those rivalry games next season.

Due to the nature of their existence, MK Dons are probably the one team out there where I won't ever feel the slightest but of sympathy for them no matter what happens.

I can't believe I'm only just learning that Sunderland is owned by Elaine-from-Seinfeld's third cousin.

I wouldn't mind seeing Luton in the Premier League. They're due to move to the yet to be built Power Court Stadium, which will hold about 23,000. But it'd be nice to see PL matches at Kenilworth Rd, which has a capacity of 10,356 and has been Luton's home since 1905.

Some atmosphere the crowd are generating though. Luton have had a couple of decent chances already this half. But it's end to end stuff, lots of turn overs.

Luton is my new favorite club as I learned this week they’re the Hatters. I love fedoras/fine hats.

Glad they advanced and really hope they win next Saturday to be promoted.

I've been a Sunderland fan for 18 years so that was rough, but Luton Town was just better. Sunderland has several major injuries, something like striker, attacking MF, and THREE defenders. They were one of the youngest teams in the Championship, and fought to the end. I'm proud to support them.

It would be fun to have Luton in the PL next year.

It will be Coventry City or Luton Town in the Carling Premiership next year. Takes me back to the early/mid 90s, when I first started following the league and Coventry would escape relegation about every year on the last day of the season.

Either one is a pretty good story, as they both were in League Two not long ago.

When Coventry City were relegated in 2001 (last time they were in the top flight) one of the other teams that went down that year was...Manchester City.

Yep. I'm torn between rooting for Luton or Conventry. It would be a great lift for both areas. I think I'm tending to Coventry as i was the home of UK Ska; The Specials and The Selector.

Did you ever see these Coventry kits, celebrating the seminal ska label 2 Tone Records? Right up there with my all time favorites

If I weren’t fat and bald and 54 I’d rock one of these. Beautiful in style and in spirit. 2 Tone/ska/Coventry is right up there with Sub Po/grunge/Seattle, Sun in Memphis, you name it.

I never thought of it, but now there needs to be a Chicago Fire Chess Records kit.

Sheffield Wednesday have taken their play off tie against Peterborough United into extra time. A four goal deficit from the first leg wiped out, the equalizing goal in the 8th minute of injury time.

Didn't see that coming.

Game is on ESPN+ if you have a subscription.

Sheffield concede an own goal on a really great free kick delivery. So many tired legs out there.

Wednesday score. It's 5-1 on the night and 5-5 on aggregate.

It's not pretty stuff. The players are dead on their feet.

Come on Wednesday, do it for Justin.

I can’t believe Wednesday forced extra time. I turned it off after a failed long ball ran to the keeper. I thought Wednesday looked cooked and the ref was sure to blow the final whistle.
