Trey Mancini has more than a little bit of Pete Davidson in his smile.

I actually like it because it gives more exposure to guys who have a few elite skills but otherwise aren’t as well known.

So you can be in the derby without being an all star? (Mancini)
After a bunch of All Stars said no, they had no choice but to go outside the rosters to fill the event. If it's a choice between that or including, say, Joey Wendle because he's the only guy who said yes, give me Mancini every time.

Is Ohtani going to play 2-3 innings as a SP and ANOTHER 2-3 as DH only? Or can I assume that he probably gets 2 at bats and is done no matter what?

I think I heard last night that the plan was 1 inning, which was why he is leading off.

So he is pitching one inning and then leaving the game? Or reverting to DH for I assume one more at bat?
I think 1 inning and at least 2 ABs is what I heard Ravech (or maybe Olney) say last night.

It's my understanding that MLB changed the rules to allow him to leave the game as a pitcher but remain in the game as a DH.

So he isn't a starter but rather, an opener? I hate that term but thats what he is i guess
I mean, this is always the case for the all Star game. Occasional in the past a pitcher might go two innings, but this roster has 15 pitchers on it. Plus teams are much more sensitive of load.

Alonso could win five more of these without being one of the top 100 players in the league. But he’s Thor in this format.
I watched him multiple times during their recent MFY series not be able to put the ball in play with a man on 3rd and less than 2 outs, when a simple sac fly would drive in an easy run. But when it doesn't matter... he hits bombs.
Eduardo Perez's voice makes me want to pull my hair out.
It sounds like he has peanut butter permanently stuck to the roof of his mouth.

He's Andre The Giant without the accent.

Yesterday made me appreciate that I didn’t appreciate enough and took for granted, the magic of Ken Griffey Jr while he was playing.

And when someone's grooving it right over the middle of the plate.

I'm unable to watch ESPN baseball coverage because of him. It's like nails on a chalkboard to me. It sounds like he has a permanent frog in his throat.
Perez is horrible but he doesn’t want to talk as much as someone like an HR or an Eric Byrnes who are much more annoying to me. If they ever got the crew together, my favorite would be Ravech, Mendoza and Arod. /ducks

I hear ya' but honestly I would choose him over a few of the others out there.
I’m interested in seeing how/if Kevin Cash uses Chapman tonight if the AL has a lead late.
This time it doesn't count. All Star outcome no longer has any affect on WS home field advantage so maybe he uses him in that situation.

Maybe as a pinch runner.
He supposedly outraced Billy Hamilton when they were Reds teammates.

The results for this game are back to meaningless, right? I still would be pretty surprised to see Chapman pitch at any point.

I think the rule variance for the game is more so that the pitchers that follow Ohtani aren't obligated to bat. And also so JD Martinez and Nelson Cruz can later be inserted into the lineup as DHs and bat more than once if there's opportunity, as opposed to pinch hitting for the pitcher and only getting one PA no matter what.

Oh I forgot about the ridiculously ugly jerseys. The NL ones have floral pattern that was pretty obviously left over from when the game was going to be played in Atlanta. Not to mention the color scheme. Why the league didn't scrap the uniforms... I have no idea. Well maybe a few ($$$).

I liked that they just wore their regular jerseys. Oh well.

It’s going to be awesome when racists complain that Hank Aaron couldn’t be properly honored in Atlanta because the city was canceled. Assuming that hasn’t happened already, which it probably has.
