Must be a "feature" of the notch.Negative. Not anymore. Not sure if it was on X but it appears on 12.0 it’s gone. The home screen is different in a few ways. With the cutout, what I’ve read is there’s no room for the % anymore. Dunno how legit that is, but google tells me it so it must be correct.
Yes I said that five posts before this.Battery is still there. When you toggle control center it’s in the top right.
Here’s what it looks like now. Here is where I get % to appear on my home screen.

Yeah, she clearly has some of her sister’s music in her library. Not sure if you can bypass the music syncing. So, went to setup up the better half’s new one and its repeatedly asking for her sister’s Apple ID. She thinks it’s likely shared music. Any help on figuring out what she needs to delete to get it to stop?
Yep. Been playing with it a lot as well, in all aspects, for about the same time period and short of playing with the wireless charger I bought for about five minutes, it’s holding up impressively. Fast as shit too.Gotta say I have been running this thing into the ground for about 7 hours now and it’s still got juice. A big improvement over my 6S and 8.
She’s fine deleting it, just curious how to determine which ones are causing it.Yeah, she clearly has some of her sister’s music in her library. Not sure if you can bypass the music syncing.
If you have it all in iTunes I think you can add a column that indicates which account each song is attached too. She’s fine deleting it, just curious how to determine which ones are causing it.
Edit; I’m thinking delete all music and restore from iTunes might be best option here?
Problems with a newly released iPhone? Shocking. Is anyone here experiencing the terrible cell and WiFi connection issues that are plaguing others?
Conversely I’ve found I have better reception for both on this. Could be a carrier issue, who do you use?Is anyone here experiencing the terrible cell and WiFi connection issues that are plaguing others?
I always wonder why people who don’t like Apple products must follow conversations about them and drop their wicked cool one liners.Problems with a newly released iPhone? Shocking.
I don’t have mine yet but MacRumors has a front page story and multiple forum threads about it. It’s an antenna problem apparently, not software.Conversely I’ve found I have better reception for both on this. Could be a carrier issue, who do you use?
Only snag I’ve hit so far is screen sizing with texts or websites being wonky when going from portrait to landscape. I assume that’ll be addressed in next update and expect small glitches in iOS when they go new.
I like Apple products just fine and use them widely. But I am disappointed in the company for releasing products and software all too frequently that are not ready for prime time. Phones that don't make phone calls properly. iOS that drains battery. Keyboards that don't work or break down in a year.I always wonder why people who don’t like Apple products must follow conversations about them and drop their wicked cool one liners.
Weird since it has a second antenna. https://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2018/09/23/apple-iphone-xs-max-iphone-xr-upgrade-4g-speed-lte-battery-life-price-cost/#2611b8d74480I don’t have mine yet but MacRumors has a front page story and multiple forum threads about it. I’ve found people that upgrade every year will always be underwhelmed. There’s only so much advancement they can make in a year. Or overall all really, they can’t go full barrel and expect people to buy long term rather than sit on their older tech. I do it every two years and while there may be some tomfoolery with software, I’ve always been glad I did it and glad I waited.I got my gold XS Max today. Upgraded from last year’s X. The gold is a real pimp look, I like it. Other than that, though, pretty underwhelming. The screen is a little bigger, but otherwise nothing is noticeably different. Meh.
I know I’m now coming off as an apple slave (which I partially admit to) but is Android that much better? I’ve found any new release on electronics like this to have glitches and expect as much. They always fix it. I’m not a software guy but I’d imagine it’s not easy to get right first shot on this stuff without some updates, at least until it’s in play. I generally know and accept that about a month before a new release my old phone and software is going to get wonky. My new one will take a month or two to work out the kinks. I’m willing to make that sacrifice to have continuity within the ecosystem and have all my devices synched.I like Apple products just fine and use them widely. They switched to Intel from Qualcomm, abd the performance apparently is very subpar.
All I can really say is what I did, I’ve had better cell and WiFi reception on this than my old 7. All I’m seeing online is that they’re using both Intel and Qualcomm. Which is why I asked what your provider is, as in the past I knew they use slightly different builds for the two different techs. Do you have a link? I’m honestly not even really finding much other than iOS 12 complaints. They switched to Intel from Qualcomm, abd the performance apparently is very subpar.
Fair enough, people do this everywhere and I assumed from the two one liner posts. My apologies.I like Apple products just fine and use them widely. I have had ATT for years and it seems faster than the X...Is anyone here experiencing the terrible cell and WiFi connection issues that are plaguing others?
Haha. So conflicting reports on different carriers and phones using different chips and people reporting both better and worse reception. Also speculation it might be a software issue with older WiFi networks. Got it.
Have AT&T but ups lost my phone. Was supposed to be here Friday, it’s still in China. Apple is sending a 2nd one.I have had ATT for years and it seems faster than the X...
Are you in Verizion?
I have AT&T as well. You’ll be fine. Stop worrying. If there’s an issue it’s software not hardware and will be corrected in a week or so.Have AT&T but ups lost my phone. Was supposed to be here Friday, it’s still in China. Apple is sending a 2nd one.
I get 215 down and 485 up on my wifi...have you tried to reset network connections?Phone finally arrived today. Setup was a breeze thanks to the NFC of holding my old one next to the Xs.
The WiFi speed is realllllllllly slow but I see that’s an issue I hope the next iOS update corrects.
Not yet. Tonight I'll test and see what I get. Last night I was setting everything up and reentering passwords into all the apps so didn't mess with it.I get 215 down and 485 up on my wifi...have you tried to reset network connections?
Well, for someone like me who has never messed with any network settings or had a VPN set up...that's it. I basically got 4 times the speed after doing that, so well worth losing any saved wifi passwords I may have had.Not yet. Tonight I'll test and see what I get. Last night I was setting everything up and reentering passwords into all the apps so didn't mess with it.
Resetting network settings won't do anything but make me reenter my WiFi password again right?
Call your carrier - they may think you are using an Android device, or the wrong model of iPhoneAnyone have any thoughts on how to get my voicemail working correct again? When I get a voicemail it isn't showing up in the voicemail section. I have to dial 1 to get to voicemail old school way. So basically if I miss a call, I don't know if they left a voicemail or not, unless I check manually.
I don't know where the X fits in now that they have the Xr as the budget model. I wonder what the price point will be. Seems like it will just kill the resale value on used Gen1 XThe decision to restart iPhone X production is due in part to an agreement Apple made with Samsung to purchase a certain amount of OLED display panels, according to the WSJ.
Apple is also reportedly using the iPhone X to make up for lost sales of the iPhone XS and XS Max. The report claims that the older iPhone model is cheaper to produce because the components and manufacturing equipment are now older and therefore cheaper.
Nonetheless, the decision is a little strange because, in January, Apple cut production of the iPhone X in half from 40 million to only 20 million units. Major markets in the U.S., China, and Europe were to blame for the sluggish sales after an initial buzz following the iPhone X's release in Nov. 2017.
Agreed wholeheartedly. The Mac lineup makes zero sense and even worse is confusing. The iPad lineup isn’t much better. The iPhone X and MacBook line ups are complete mess.
MacBook and MacBook Air are redundant. The X, Xr and Xs are all the same phone to a lot of buyers. Why does the Xr have a larger screen? I get it’s a lesser screen but non tech geeks don’t care. It’s a phone with a larger screen that’s cheaper. I’m not sure what they’re thinking. Also can they just throw some new components in th iPad mini?
I don’t think I’ve really ever used 3D Touch in the years I’ve had it. It’s cute for Live Photo’s etc. but a hold on the photo could do the same thing. I think it’s really useless to nearly everyone.Agreed wholeheartedly. The Mac lineup makes zero sense and even worse is confusing. The iPad lineup isn’t much better.
I love my Xs but would’ve bought the Xr had it featured 3D Touch. I don’t get how they’ll restart X production and not cannibalize Xr/Xs sales.
I think this is correct. I just can't see the X and Xr existing in the same market as budget options of the flagships. You could make an argument for the X being priced both above or below the Xr. It's nuts.I don’t think I’ve really ever used 3D Touch in the years I’ve had it. It’s cute for Live Photo’s etc. but a hold on the photo could do the same thing. We’re basically back to the point of 1997 where there’s like 15 models all over the place, no one knows what to buy and it took Steve Jobs in 1998 to come back and basically simplify things into the 4 models.
I’m not Tim Cook and obviously they have a plan but it’s really confusing. I’m guessing the iPhone X production return is due to emerging markets and not for US, which makes complete sense. The analysts following Apple are pretty awful in general.
