Miggy seems a bit amped...the stare down on the bunt play and then tossing his bat 20ft in the air on a walk? Weird.

Go Miller. I love this dude.

He looks more like the guy that pitched for North Carolina now than the guy that pitched for the Sox.
I hope he comes back to the Sox and that he's pitching for them this time next year, all scruffy, as he should be.

Had the same thought.  Why's he seem so pissed off?  Not his usual M.O.

Do we have any chance of getting Miller back?

8 hits and 4 walks since the trade (not counting tonight's walk).

At the time of the trade I saw at least one newspaper write up that said the Sox believe they have a good chance of getting Miller back.  Frankly, it came across as more likely that Miller comes back than Lester.

Pitchers are beginning to develop later than they used to?  I'm not saying I support the opposite thesis but what evidence is there for this one?

I was just thinking that Miller had to have been one of the last guys who was drafted with a ML contract. He was rushed as a starter and it may have delayed his development?

At some point these O's starters are gonna have to pitch deeper into games. Asking 12 outs from your bullpen each game can be taxing in the postseason.

Well, yeah, Miller's a data point but only one.  To validate that thesis you'd have to decide what is blossoming as a pitcher, getting to a 100 era+ or better in 100 innings?  The standard is kind of arbitrary.  And then you'd have to show at what age pitchers reached this standard in the past and now.  There have always been guys like Miller who for whatever reason couldn't get in sync at first.

I should just drop it but I'm still wound up about shit like this after seeing Harold fucking Reynolds the other night.  He's so averse to thinking it's ridiculous.  He was talking about some pitcher and said that his team must have much bigger ticket sales the days of his starts.  That was like the first goddam piece of fiction that Bill James exploded 30+ years ago showing that the Astros didn't sell any more tickets the days that Nolan Ryan pitched and the same was true for a couple other pitchers.  30+ years later Harold Reynolds is so impervious to ideas and discussions that he's still saying the same thing.  He's like a guy in 1520's spanish ports grieving for sailors who are going to die going off the corner of the world even as galleons loaded with silver sail back into the harbor.

Nah .. I know what you mean .. I think players seem to think that the timing is far more important. Not being a player I can't really comment.
Maybe timing is more important, thus, pitchers mix up their pitches. But then, there are guys like Lackey that sometimes throw a dozen fastballs in a row.

In a lot of ways he reminds me of Jimy Williams .. Who certainly had an interesting combination of brilliance and complete idiocy all rolled into one.
Unfortuntely, I think Buck scores pretty low on the idiocy scale. He agrees with me about that.
