Scioscia face will have to suffice for not being able to see Showalter get pissed.

That's seriously mind blowing.  I didn't know the real number.

I think what surprises me is the lack of some starter with a 4.5bb/9ip rate and 200 innings pitched.  Ryan must've averaged 6+ but we don't have any starter getting near 200 ip with a measly rate of 4.5/9.  Are pitchers showing better control than ever?  Have they responded to the emphasis on OBP by throwing strikes?

Jimenez was at 5.5, but only pitched 125. Masterson at 5.1, but less than 100. Brad Peacock 4.8/131. Go back 10 years and Miguel Batista and Victor Zambrano were the only two starters over 90 (96 each). 1994, Mike Moore and Todd Van Poppel led with 89. Walks were definitely down this year, but it's actually really hard to get to 100 BBs in the era of the modern bullpen.

I was busy, now I'm back and it looks as though Scioscia has taken Wilson out in the midst of an inning. Is this right?
Oh, I see it's true. Wow.

At the start of the 5th inning in ALDS game 4 vs. Cleveland in 1999 the Red Sox had a 15-2 lead.  Rich Garces walked the Indians leadoff hitter.  Jimy Williams pulled him.
Remember Dick Williams getting the bullpen going in the first inning of the next to the last game of the 1967 season?  All of a sudden Santiago remembered how to pitch.

That's fantastic managing. This is how you manage to win one game.
Problem is, they need to win 3, and you jeopardize your chance to win game 4 this way. However, if you lose tonight, you're done, so it's a dilemma.

Big run for the Angels sitting on second here. If they get one back, it changes the whole vibe here.
