The prospect of the Royals winning anyway is even better.
It will be interesting to see how he handles an early exit. It's ridiculous that he'll get any flak for having three bad games after the season he hadMakMan44 said:I'm actually pretty torn here. This is like Kasparov going against a five year old bouncing up and down in his seat with delight at a chance to move "the horsey one".fineyoungarm said:The prosepect of Showalter trying to out-manage Yost is so exciting I have angina

Sick of every playoff team not from KC or DC, so BGJ is really the best of a bunch of bad choices. KC deserves it too. They hadn't even MADE the playoffs for almost my entire life.Remagellan said:Go Royals. Even though I hate BG James.

I'm Remagellan and I approve this messageRough Carrigan said:And, look, I understand he pitched well. And I'm not some idiot who thinks won-lost record is the measure of a pitcher. But David Price, bitchy Cy Young winner and self-appointed defender of the game of baseball is still winless in postseason play.

Can we get someone to feed Peter Gammons the info that there's nothing in the world that Will Middlebrooks likes more than getting signals, lots of signals, from his manager?fineyoungarm said:Dammit, now we'll have to throw in Nava to get Trout.

Most over-rated HOF starter in the history of the game.kieckeredinthehead said:
Nolan Ryan was the Nolan Ryan (of strikeouts) of walks. In 1974, there were five starters in the AL with more than 100 BBs. Ryan had 202, 27% more than the next guy.

That's seriously mind blowing. I didn't know the real number.kieckeredinthehead said:

I think what surprises me is the lack of some starter with a 4.5bb/9ip rate and 200 innings pitched. Ryan must've averaged 6+ but we don't have any starter getting near 200 ip with a measly rate of 4.5/9. Are pitchers showing better control than ever? Have they responded to the emphasis on OBP by throwing strikes?
