I was about to say if the A's survive the Rodney inning they win...so now I know the outcome; they're done for.

Definitely want to make sure that Treinen doesn’t get to pitch a meaningful inning

I don't remember where the conversation about if fielding is more or less or same importance in short series versus regular season, but this is a good example of something.

The first one? It should be squarely in our favor starting Friday.

This is really our fault for expecting Oakland to do anything other than completely blow it. This is their October MO.

He wears it like that to honor a fisherman. The fisherman cocked it to block the sun on the boat. This fisherman died a week before Fernando's MLB debut.

Of course, that fisherman was his father.
Did he continuously turn his boat to keep the sun behind his hat brim?

So are we still doing the whole "there's plenty of time for the A's to come back" thing or that's over now?
Rodney was not even competent. That hurt. It's still 3-4 runs but the A's would need to have one of those innings where they suddenly lay a drop kick on a pitcher.

the next generation of baseball fans will never understand how we could have possibly let humans call strikezones when we had machines that could already do a far better job

Am I crazy or is it awfully strange to pitch Hendriks and Rodney in a wildcard game before Fiers?

Fiers would be pitching on 4 days rest.
It seems like when managers do the bullpen game thing, they stay away from starting pitchers. But maybe that’s to not mess with SPs rotation/next start. However, very good chance there is no next start here, so all hands on deck. Melvin did a poor job planning this one. Period.
