Rafaela has been on a (BABIP-aided) tear.
In his last ten games (41 PA), he’s at .425/.439/.475 with a .586 BABIP. 11 K against 1 BB. Not sustainable, obviously, but it’s been a big part of the team’s run of success.

His last 7 games has been even more hilariously awesome coming in at a cool .615 clip. He’s basically an NBA Jam player on fire at this point.
The Blizzard didn't have a single plate appearance tonight, as he pinch ran for Dom Smith in the 8th, and was defensively replaced by my old heart throb, Bobby Fuckin' Dalbec, in the 9th. All The Blizzard did was steal a base, and then score from second on a single by the Angry Lizard. But if that isn't the most Blizzard thing ever, I don't know what is.
Apparently, CR's hit was the first 2-out, go-ahead RBI by #RedSox in the 8th or 9th inning away from Fenway in over TWO YEARS (since June 11…and 12, 2022), at least according to this:

Makes me wonder what the opposite would be: how many 2-out go-ahead RBIs in the 8th or 9th the Red Sox have allowed at Fenway over that span? I would guess more than one!

2) Four given up by the Red Sox at Fenway in that span, with all being notably XBH, and each of the last two being homers.
Since the overall start of play 6/13/22, or the date after Boston's last such occurrence prior to Rafaela Tuesday, the team with the most road games with 2 out, go ahead RBI in the 8th or 9th are the Reds with seven. The teams to give up the most from a pitching perspective are Arizona and Miami, both with seven.
C-Note had the night off, ceding his spot in the line-up to Rowdy Romy Gonzalez. Wouldn't you know it, per statcast, Rowdy and C-Note (and Blizzard) have identical 90th percentile speed.
Our revised version of the terrifying trio didn't miss a beat, with a whopping 13 total bases. Duran was the star tonight with a single, a home run, and two stolen bases. Romy contributed a single and swiped two bases. Blizzard lagged behind with a single and merely one SB. In sum, the trio contributed 4 RBI, enough on their own to dispatch the wounded Jays who lost 7-3.
The Sox have won 8 of their last 10. There's no question the young speedsters at the top and bottom of the lineup are an important part of this recent run.

In MLB history, the Sox have the 16th most SBs, the least among any team with over 11,000 games. Even the Astros, who've played 51% as many games, have stolen 91% as many bases. On a rate basis, compared to those 16 long-time teams, they've stolen the fewest (0.50 per game), compared to an average of 0.67 per game and 0.83 for the Reds.
To be fair, the entire AL is behind the NL on these metrics - for the AL only, it's 0.60 per game.
I know they're on a hot streak right now, but this is a good team.

Hamilton to second on a Tyler "guns out" o'Neill single. And then a double-steal puts Blizzard on third, before getting home on a sac fly by Devers.

I don't know if it's just the rules and enlarged bases, but baseball is much more FUN with athletes doing their thing, instead of just slow-pitch softball guys either striking out or hitting homers.
I love this kind of baseball.
My only problem with the slo-pitch softball type of baseball was their refusal to adhere to the rules. If they were chugging beers after every home run and strike out it would have been a lot more fun.

More broadly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more dramatic morphing of any baseball player season to season. Duran must have found the magic charm with the legendary three wishes. (I wonder if he can use a remaining wish for a 200 inning-eater.)

I just imagined a monkey's paw situation where Duran goes "I wish I was the best player on the team!" and suddenly every other player on the team transforms into Dalbec.
