Relatively quiet night for two of our trio of terror, and not a steal among the three, but C-Note had himself a night: a single, a HR, and yet another walk, for 6 more total bases. Tonight Cora moved The Blizzard to the 8-spot where he split at bats with the ascendant Manu, who drew a walk.
Not to mention one spectacular diving catch, and one relatively difficult catch in the gap that he made look routine.

Rafaela has been on a (BABIP-aided) tear.

In his last ten games (41 PA), he’s at .425/.439/.475 with a .586 BABIP. 11 K against 1 BB. Not sustainable, obviously, but it’s been a big part of the team’s run of success.

The entire AL in 1914 stole 1,657 bases and were caught 1,370 times, a 54.7% success rate.

Tris Speaker led the Sox with 42 steals, but he only had 29 caught stealing to Duffy Lewis's 31 (he stole 22 successfully).
1914 red sox, 91 game winners (2d place) had 18HRs as a team.

His last 7 games has been even more hilariously awesome coming in at a cool .615 clip. He’s basically an NBA Jam player on fire at this point.

I am considering accepting Ceddane Rafaela as my personal savior. There’s a two week period where I accept comments from the community of there are any.

The Blizzard didn't have a single plate appearance tonight, as he pinch ran for Dom Smith in the 8th, and was defensively replaced by my old heart throb, Bobby Fuckin' Dalbec, in the 9th. All The Blizzard did was steal a base, and then score from second on a single by the Angry Lizard. But if that isn't the most Blizzard thing ever, I don't know what is.

Makes me wonder what the opposite would be: how many 2-out go-ahead RBIs in the 8th or 9th the Red Sox have allowed at Fenway over that span? I would guess more than one!

@Brand Name would be able to figure this out.

Questions: (i) is the guy above correct that the last time the Red Sox had a two-out, go-ahead RBI in the 8th or 9th innings away from Fenway was 2 years ago?

(ii) since that date, how many 2-out go-ahead RBIs in the 8th or 9th the Red Sox have allowed at Fenway over that span?

Thanks in advance!

Numbers are regular season only. My pleasure to help as always.

1) Can confirm he's right.

2) Four given up by the Red Sox at Fenway in that span, with all being notably XBH, and each of the last two being homers.

Since the overall start of play 6/13/22, or the date after Boston's last such occurrence prior to Rafaela Tuesday, the team with the most road games with 2 out, go ahead RBI in the 8th or 9th are the Reds with seven. The teams to give up the most from a pitching perspective are Arizona and Miami, both with seven.

C-Note had the night off, ceding his spot in the line-up to Rowdy Romy Gonzalez. Wouldn't you know it, per statcast, Rowdy and C-Note (and Blizzard) have identical 90th percentile speed.

Our revised version of the terrifying trio didn't miss a beat, with a whopping 13 total bases. Duran was the star tonight with a single, a home run, and two stolen bases. Romy contributed a single and swiped two bases. Blizzard lagged behind with a single and merely one SB. In sum, the trio contributed 4 RBI, enough on their own to dispatch the wounded Jays who lost 7-3.

The Sox have won 8 of their last 10. There's no question the young speedsters at the top and bottom of the lineup are an important part of this recent run.

Do we need a nickname?

“Boston Flee Party.”
These boys ain't fleeing from nobody. I'd like to think they're courageous like firefighters, running towards danger without hesitation when the moment calls for it.

Tonight, June 20th, not a one of the Boston Flee Party/Run DHC/Agents of KAOS got a hit, walk, or steal. No runs, no RBIs, not a base to be had. Let's just bury this game and pretend it never happened.

Jarren Duran (20) and David Hamilton (21) are the first Sox teammates with at least 20 SBs through 78 games since Chick Stahl (20) and Tommy Dowd (21) in 1901, the first year the Sox existed.

The Civil War veterans at the Huntington Avenue Baseball Grounds loved those guys.
This seems so absurd that i find it impossible to believe its true.

Honestly I expected a lot of these records to fall after last year's rules changes.
Right, and the Red Sox team ones in particular, as the Sox were always behind the league on SBs.
https://stathead.com/tiny/vEXok
In MLB history, the Sox have the 16th most SBs, the least among any team with over 11,000 games. Even the Astros, who've played 51% as many games, have stolen 91% as many bases. On a rate basis, compared to those 16 long-time teams, they've stolen the fewest (0.50 per game), compared to an average of 0.67 per game and 0.83 for the Reds.

To be fair, the entire AL is behind the NL on these metrics - for the AL only, it's 0.60 per game.

I know they're on a hot streak right now, but this is a good team.

When we start to think they can come back and win games like they did tonight, that's a good sign. Here's hoping a few buttons are pressed by Breslow and Co. and we can make a run.

Deep Thoughts By LoLsapien. I know we're not there yet but if Campbell is the real deal, he'd sure look nice joining this group of base path saboteurs. And, totally separate thought, but when Casas gets back you can queue up the Vangelis, because its going to look like he's running in slow motion.

Ham Fighter Hamilton walks in his first at bat. What does he do next? Well, what's your first guess? If you guessed that he steals second base... You're wrong!! Hamilton to second on a Tyler "guns out" o'Neill single. And then a double-steal puts Blizzard on third, before getting home on a sac fly by Devers.

Edit: Hot Shit Hamilton singles in his 3rd at bat, and advances to second on a Tyler "oh my!" O'neill walk. A double steal puts Blizzard on third, before getting home on a ground out by Devers. Hamilton accounts for both runs scored so far in a tie game going into the 9th.

Edit2: Absolutely spectacular throw by Duran to nail the runner at home, saving what would have been the Marlin's game winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Fly out by the next batter and we're going to the 10th

I don't know if it's been mentioned before in this thread, but I absolutely love how often we steal third.

I don't know if it's just the rules and enlarged bases, but baseball is much more FUN with athletes doing their thing, instead of just slow-pitch softball guys either striking out or hitting homers.

I love this kind of baseball.

My only problem with the slo-pitch softball type of baseball was their refusal to adhere to the rules. If they were chugging beers after every home run and strike out it would have been a lot more fun.

“Edit2: Absolutely spectacular throw by Duran to nail the runner at home, saving what would have been the Marlin's game winning run in the bottom of the 9th. Fly out by the next batter and we're going to the 10th’

The throw was sensational, although I thought Sanchez pulled up for a nanosecond between second and third, which cost him.

More broadly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more dramatic morphing of any baseball player season to season. Duran must have found the magic charm with the legendary three wishes. (I wonder if he can use a remaining wish for a 200 inning-eater.)

I just imagined a monkey's paw situation where Duran goes "I wish I was the best player on the team!" and suddenly every other player on the team transforms into Dalbec.
