Help me out here. My understanding from Sunday's game was that 2 plays were always called in the huddle so that a kill went to the alternate without any verbal communications necessary. Maybe the alternate play for that down wasn't any better?

Perhaps. If the alternate play was a naked bootleg by Brady around the left end, I'm glad he didn't change it.

I think this was previously mentioned, but that 4th-and-inches where Burkhead got stoned. Burkhead lined up as the single RB in the backfield to Brady's right, and the Chiefs over-loaded that same side of the LOS in response. Brady probably should have changed the playcall.
I can't view the all-22 yet, but it looks to me like Burkhead is lined up directly behind Brady, and runs just to Brady's right. Pats have an unbalanced line right, with Trent Brown lined up outside Cannon and Dwayne Allen outside Brown. I think they were trying to fool KC with that unusual alignment because they come out of the huddle, get set quickly, and just go. They got some push but no one blocked Sorensen and Burkhead couldn't leap out of his grasp. It's probably more of a great play by Sorensen than anything, but I'd like to see the end zone view to see if there was a better option for Burkhead or if someone missed a block.

The stunned immobility of the chiefs faithful in the background was priceless

Watching yet another replay of the game. So many 3rd down conversions. 13 out of 19. Great, but seemed like even better. Probably not so great in the first 3 quarters. Chiefs were 4 of 9.

As close as this game ended up being, it very easily could have been an easy win if not for some weird shit. Edelman dropped pick, 2 fumble recoveries negated by penalties away from the play, dropped endzone INT. Crazy.

Kind of like that they had to grind for 60+ especially after rolling the Chargers. LAR did too, of course, but I like the feeling that the Pats are peaking in one sense but not complacent.

It was one of those classic "everything's just going to go wrong and we lose no matter what" games, like we usually see in Denver or Miami.

Except they pulled it out.

How many of those 3rd downs were in 4 down territory...which make them even more special.
