Mahomes' ceiling is still higher than any other QB in the league, but i'm dying to know what he looks like when he doesn't have two all-pros (both Kelce and Hill made the all 2010s team) who always seem to be open and are incredibly dangerous after the catch.
Is it higher than Allen, Herbert, or Burrow? Genuinely curious what people think.

It's easy for QBs to look like that (even MVPs who have won multiple big playoff games) when their #1 option can't get open or can't get the ball. Hill had 7 catches for 78 yards and a TD in the 1st half and was shut out in the 2nd half - he was tackled in bounds to end the first half, the next time he touched the ball was on the interception in OT.

And Kelce was only 5/40 in the second half/OT. Wild.

May I ask an honest question? As a non-Pats fan I don't follow this forum too closely during the regular season. Why do so many here hate Mahomes so much? Hill, Kelce, sure I get it. But did I miss a story about Mahomes doing something douchey? To me he's a fun player to watch and since my team has sucked forever I tend to root for interesting players to make the SB as opposed to teams, and Mahomes seems like he would qualify.

Many are offended that Mahomes gets positive coverage. Because that somehow invalidates Tom Brady.

That is basically the crux of it.

It’s not that we hate Mahomes. It’s the media / Jeter phenomenon. They annoited him as the next GOAT or whatever. That it was a given he would win 3, 4, 5 titles. It’s not that easy. We are rooting against those titles every step of the way.

Yeah, it is this I think. I think it is also more that Mahomes gets coverage about being the next Brady or being better than Brady, rather than just enjoying how great he has been (not today) in his early career.

When the Rams get late in the play clock before they get to the line they have a shit play pretty much every time.

I'd like him more if he didn't play for such a scumbag fanbase.

I don't hate Patrick Mahomes. And I don't hate Nick Wright. But I really hate Nick Wright talking about Patrick Mahomes.

I have always liked him less than most, but I have always wondered how truly good he is.

It feels like most of the time he is throwing to wide open players or making really risky decisions. He has an amazing arm and good legs, but then he plays like he did in the second half when Hill is taken away.

If he played more within the design of the play, he would be a less flashy player but a better player. We just saw him lose the game because he tried to make backyard type plays.

So, if Allen plays like he did in the playoffs (not the running), but the patience and accuracy, I would say he will ended up better than Mahomes.

I think its a bit reactionary to say he's held back by his scrambling style based on one half of football when we have several seasons and other playoff games worth of evidence that it's really really effective.

Alright. The thing is, Mahomes is great. He's been great since he took over as the starter. It would be stupid if he didn't get a ton of attention. It's not like Brady hasn't gotten a ton of attention for 20 years. It just seems like he's a weird target. But ok, I don't want to turn this into a Mahomes debate. I thought I was missing something about him but apparently I was over-thinking it.

Easy to root against the team that was crowned the next dynasty by the talking heads. Mahomes is the face of that. Plus their fanbase is particularly shitty.

This is it and Nantz’s coverage of him is nauseating. I actually enjoy watching him play, he is amazing but I root against him every step of the way.

I like Mahomes (and I'm neutral on Kelce), but I have a visceral reaction to Hill making a play, the closest I can compare it to would be Terrell Suggs. That, and seeing racist chiefs' fans go home sad is great fun (it's 2022, anyone still doing the tomahawk motion and chant is racist).

Also this. Fandom doesn't have to be rational.

Don't hate him. Think he's over-hyped (like Jeter, as mentioned above) but very talented (unlike Jeter). I think we feel like we need to talk him down a bit to counterbalance the hype.
His cutesy "Imma tiptoe along the sidelines for 6 extra yards now, and don't touch me or you'll get a flag" move annoys me, but he's fun to watch.
