Aside from all the other questions -- pending suspension, he's a bad dude, etc. -- there is the salary cap question.

Signing the guy while he's pursuing a grievance that could cost the Patriots $9 million plus in salary cap money seems crazy, given how it played out last time.

Signing him in a way that results in a settlement of the grievance and gets them something for the cap hit they are taking, or somehow helps them cap wise, starts to make a bit more business sense.

(Again, though, I'm ignoring all the other issues just to make this particular point.)

I have to say yes to this question, if it helps the Patriots get ring #7. Then we'd have 2 franchises with the most championships* in their respective professional sports.

*We can all agree that NFL titles before the superbowl don't count and are stupid.

Yes.

This is sports entertainment, I want my team to win. The Patriots had a guy playing TE who literally killed multiple people; yet I fondly remember his unbelievable plays he was making and feel no remorse for rooting for him during his playing days. Julian Edelman had a sexual harassment accusation a decade ago, Ben Watson took PEDs, etc etc. I root for the laundry, not the player (unless it's Brady).

Antonio Brown is the best receiver in the game and will help this football team significantly. I hope the Patriots pick him up and have him win Superbowl MVP.

The Pats ask Goodell what the AB status is to be if he gets signed.

Goodell says he will be suspended. Pats ask how long. Goodell says four games.

Pats weigh it and go for it. Sign Brown.

Goodell then immediately hands down a suspension, good through the rest of 2019.

Pats appeal. Who does the appeal go to? Goodell. Goodell denies the appeal.

What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.

I know, any chance we could get THAT guy back? What would that cap hit be?
Frankly, there is a better chance that we sign Zombie Aaron Hernandez than there is that Belichick re-signs a player that he cut, not for football reasons, but for "putting the team first" / "avoiding distractions" reasons.

For one thing, ZAH has much lower salary demands.

edit: as to the poll, I'm actually one who has flipped. I was pro-AB the first time around, but I'm a No now. He showed himself to be the kind of teammate who can't be trusted, and here more than anything, that doesn't fly. It's week 12 of the season, the cake is largely baked. Let's ride or die with who got us to this point (plus who's been working hard to get back on the field).

You ok with the Pats picking up Mark Walton? They could use some help at RB.

Belichick cut AB because Kraft told him to do so. Brown was practicing the morning after it was revealed he sent the texts to one of his accusers.

I'm for one curious to get the real story behind these rumors. I voted yes, just because I really did not want KC or Baltimore or Buffalo to pick him up.

Based on how it was reported, it seems like the initial reports that he could come back might have been based on intel from coaches/players and that the Sherman-esque declaration that it wasn’t happening came from the Krafts.

So since we are dealing with wild speculation and far-fetched wish lists, what are the odds that Bob and Roger have a “wink wink” agreement that AB never sees the field this year. Nothing on paper, of course.

If true, and as this news trickles out, when does AB lash out again? Or does his agent have him on lockdown?

Yes, this is true. Because Gronk is going to walk into Bill’s office on Tues. and say “Put me in Coach, I’m ready to play!!”
I think Bernie was joking. However much idle "let's get AB!" speculation we've had here, we've had 10x the wishful thinking about Gronk, to the point where the Dumb and Dumber "so you're saying there's a chance!" meme has gotten used multiple times.

Not everyone here lacks a sense of humor. E5 was a dick to you earlier, but he's a dick to everyone. The club meets on Tuesdays.

FYI, at the time Greg Bedard said BB would likely let Brown practice in the morning even if the Pats knew they were releasing him later in the day as a way to avoid even more of a brouhaha on that day. No Brown at practice would have put the media machinations into overdrive.

I was totally captured by your story of love and intrigue set on an international stage. But one question, as you were making love to Tiffany, did she come in a blue box?.

This is all just a test to see if AB loses his cool on social media with the report that the Pats aren't interested. If he passes the test, he will be in uniform as soon as RG reinstates him for time served.

edit: unless he heads to Berlin for the chandelier

So Curran is saying on air that the dealbreaker is that Rosenhaus wasn't straight with the Pats about potential problems. I'm surprised. Or do the Pats need to put this out? Interesting the problem is not being put on AB. He seems to be getting a little smarter about legal advice, hiring what sounds like an experienced litigation firm in West Palm Beach (Billing, Cochran) to rep him with a woman lawyer
called Camille Blanton. So he's listening to somebody.
