Just back from the game. It was spitting rain on and off, but a big cloud came after the end of the Sox turn at bat in the sixth. My ride was cold and wet, so we left at that point. It appears that the big cloud left after just 15 minutes, and the game has been resumed, so I'll miss the final three innings.
What can I say about the parts of the game that I saw?
- the Red Wings starting pitcher, Brad Lord, didn't have much. He was pulled after giving up 5 runs in two innings
- on the other hand, the WooSox starting pitcher, Brad Keller, was sharp. He gave up just 1 run in the five innings I saw, and that was on a pair of singles and two consecutive fielder's choices on grounders to second base. At least one strikeout in every inning.
- the star of the game was Eddy Alvarez, the Sox left fielder. He hit home runs on all three of his plate appearances before we left. At least two of the three (and maybe all three) were no-doubters to right-center. Very impressive.
- Roman was in right field tonight. He didn't have many chances, I'm afraid, so I can't comment on his fielding
- Meidroth singled in the first to right field down the line, then grounded to first and grounded to second. He hit everything to the right side. He's a right-handed batter, so everything went the opposite way, and mostly on the ground. Hmmm. Doesn't sound wonderful, but small sample size and all
- KCamp had one chance that I recorded and made a good throw on a ground ball to short. Sorry I can't say more.
- Grissom walked all three times I saw him at the plate. He also stole second after the first of those walks.
I'm sorry that I didn't see your questions until after I returned home this evening. I would have paid closer attention to the players you mentioned if I had.
