Priester has an 8.10 ERA in 5 games for Worcester since we traded for him...

... this is not the full on YORDANNY prediction where he hasn't allowed a run in over a month since then, but more like the somewhat muted Wikelman prediction before his current impressive stretch...

I think Quinn Priester is going to have his 2nd best game in a WooSox uniform. Let's go...

5 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, 1 bb, 6 k

Oooh, I really like the shape of that slider. That pitch looks like it could be nasty.
Yeah, he's been getting a ton of whiffs & I felt like he was outpitching his results, which is why I made the prediction. Should have gone out on a bigger limb, though.

After Priester, Yohan Ramírez pitched the next 1.2 scoreless, with some help from Bailey Horn who came in with 2 out & 2 on in the 8th with a 3-0, lead, picked up a strikeout to end the inning, then allowed a hit in a scoreless 9th for the save in a 7-0 victory.

Roman 2-3, 2b, bb, sf, sb
Dalbec 2-4, 2b, sb
KCamp 1-4, bb
Teel 1-5
Contreras 0-2, 2 bb, sb (25)
Story 0-4

Awesome to see The Priester have an outstanding game. 6 innings, 8 k, 14 whiffs, 69 pitches. Gronk approved!

Where would one go to find out how many whiffs a guy throws? That's a relatively new stat to me. I'm kinda curious what a "good" amount or rate of whiffs is. Don't see this in Fangraphs, but I also have a hard time finding things in the fridge, which can be embarrassing when the wife just reaches in and grabs it because it was staring me in the face the whole time.

Savant is so freaking cool... I think you mean 29 in the zone, though some of those "in zone" pitches were barely on the margin. I guess he's getting alot of swings on pitches that would otherwise be balls! I should play around with savant some more, would be interesting to see if he did something differently in this game. Thanks for pointing Savant out!

Whiff% at least is on savant. Still figuring this site out, but the MLB pitchers with the highest whiff rates this year are Crotchet, Ragans, Flaherty, and Cease, at 32%. Crotchet's swing% this year is 53%. So for every 100 pitches, he gets roughly 17 whiffs. Ergo, Priester getting 14 whiffs in 69 pitches is really f#cking good!!

Edit: I guess I should say, 14 whiffs in 69 pitches is an incredibly high whiff rate. No idea if whiffs correlate to low ERAs.

Tyler Uberstine allowed a double & a single with 2 outs in the top of the 1st & it was game over for Greenville.

After Uberstine's 1.1 innings, Hayden Mullins came in & threw 5.2 scoreless innings, 3 hits, 1 bb, 5 k.

JWY added 2 more scoreless innings, but Greenville only mustered 3 singles & lost 1-0.

Hudson White was 2-4 & Nelly Taylor was 1-3 with a walk & a steal (& a cs trying to get 3rd, too).

This was as good as it got for Portland who, despite 4 scoreless innings from Kwiatkowski lost 3-1...speaking of teams that hit 3 singles & lost yesterday.

Brendan Cellucci allowed 3 runs, 1 earned in 2 innings & took the loss. The unearned runs were due to his own throwing error, though.

Max Ferguson walked to lead off the game, then got caught stealing, then got replaced by Blaze Jordan, so hopefully he's OK. He already missed most of the season after crashing into the outfield wall early in the year.

Binelas 1-2, bb, 2 sb (12)
Castro/McDonough 1-3

Salem blew this 5-0 lead, & a 6-4 lead (don't think Luis Talavera is making it to next season in the Sox org), but Albert Feliz had a gw RBI in it 8th & they won 7-6.

He was fine--he was tossed by the umpire almost immediately after the play. All I can think is that he said something, but he looked baffled. Chad Epperson had some choice words for the ump and earned himself an early exit as well.

It was a weird day. The Fisher Cats left the field after 2 outs in an inning in the first game and had to come back out. Tyler McDonough retrieved a cell phone from the infield before an inning (which was mystifying until I realized someone in an inning break race had dropped it). I almost got taken out by a misdirected throw-in after inning break warmups (something I usually don't worry about in AA). Hoping for better times tonight.

Lol wild times. Thx for the info & good luck tonight!

It's in the box score so I probably should have paid better attention.

Ejections: Sea Dogs manager Chad Epperson ejected by 3B umpire Garret Griffin (1st); Sea Dogs shortstop Max Ferguson ejected by 3B umpire Garret Griffin (1st).
Just glad he's OK, though.
