Yanks finish perfect home stand so far with a 7:05 game against Toronto, which will throw veteran righty Chase Anderson against Masahiro Tanaka. Anderson won 53 games for Arizona and Milwaukee over seven seasons before his trade to Toronto. He carries a 5.75 ERA in limited action this year but could be tough on the Yankees, who are worn out after scoring 33 runs in the first two games of the series, while clubbing 13 homers.
After tonight, it’s on to Boston. New York trails Tampa by three games in the East with 11 left. Rays hold the tiebreaker thanks to winning the season series over NY. So it’s really four games the Yanks have to make up. Not likely unless Rays start choking.

Seven game winning streak:

7-2
6-0
10-1
2-1
3-1
20-6
13-2

61-13 total

That is a +48 run differential in 7 games, the Dodgers are +102 for the entire 50 game season.

The crazy thing is that Stanton and Judge each started one of those past two games and each went 0-4, Gleyber sat for both. The rest of the team has 13 HRs in the last 15 innings.

Seems like the engine of this team is DJ and Voit. Gio has been terrific the last two nights, in the field and at the plate. His return has been effortless. The other guys just follow those three.
I never saw DiMaggio play but everyone who saw Joe D said he had a grace about him that separated his game from other players. I thought of that last night when Gio ran down a pop fly over his head, well down the left field line. You knew he had it all the way. Gio didn’t sprint after it, he just sort of eased his way back, following the ball with his eyes, catching it on the run, 25 yards down the LF line. I guess a better comparison would be Graig Nettles, who was also light on his feet.
Who knows how long it will take for Judge and Stanton to get their timing back? But with 11 games left, that’s plenty.

First time in MLB history last night that the #9 hitter and the leadoff hitter have both homered twice in the same game.

Very few of them got to hit juiced baseballs like we’ve seen used in recent years.

Somebody named Julian Merryweather is pitching for Toronto. Probably will throw a no-hitter.

Hahaha, David Cone just called Tanaka 'an amphibious pitcher' because he gets out lefties and righties equally. I believe he meant ambidextrous although that is wrong too.

Merryweather is the opener and then Chase Anderson will follow.

DJ walks and Voit doubles to start things off.

If you project Clint’s 7 HRs and 23 RBI in 30 games out to 150 games, that’s 35 and 115.

NY needs a big enough margin in this one to not let CB Bucknor fuck it up.

CB just called an inside pitch strike three on DJ. Long AB. No way Anderson was getting him out on his own.

Tanaka’s bad inning has arrived. Home run, an out, and a single so far. Top of the order coming up.

He is getting hammered this inning, the out was a beautiful play by Gardner.

Stanton hits a rocket double off LF fence, trots into second. He has gotta be on orders not to run full speed.
