WooSox were up 9-0 & held on to win 14-9.

Jason Alexander allowed 1 run in the 1st 5 innings but 4 in the 6th (with Jacob Webb allowing 1 of 2 inherited runners to score).

After scoreless rehab innings for Luis García (1 hit) & Lucas Sims (2 k), Brendan Cellucci allowed all 4 hitters he faced to get on base (hbp, single, walk, walk). Wyatt Olds came in with the bases loaded & 0 out. He got the 1st 2 outs cleanly but then allowed all 3 of Cellucci's runners to score (but none of his own).

Roman 3-5, bb
Teel 2-5, 2b
Gasper 2-5, 3 rbi
Grissom/Westbrook/Dalbec/Rosier 1-4, bb
Meidroth 1-5, bb
TMac 0-3, bb, hbp

Garcia and Sims are doing rehab stints, great. Way too late now. I guess they will be back soon to pitch some meaningless innings before leaving as free agents.
I'd much rather see Grissom come up and get some playing time, that would at least be interesting to watch. The pitchers don't impact on whether to bring up Grissom or not so it's not really relevant, but it's just a little irritating that they will get more chances with the Red Sox this year but Grissom probably won't.
On the other hand, if either Sims or Garcia comes up, maybe they will get rid of Bailey Horn and I won't have to watch him anymore. So there's that.

Nice game for Hunter Dobbins tonight, pitching 5 scoreless innings of 2 hit, 2 walk, 6 k baseball in a relatively efficient 78 pitches. He lowers his ERA on the year to 2.61, with most of those innings in AA. In AAA he has an ERA of 3.44 in 20.2 innings.

Still not sure why Worcester Twitter can't afford actual 5s & are reduced to upside-down 2s?

The Chihuahuas hit a home run into the pool in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 5. Old friend Logan Gillaspie in for the bottom of the 9th.

My in game reporting needs work, but this is a picture of the game-tying single in the bottom of the 10th by Yohel Pozo off Gillaspie.

Sorry I derailed the thread. Will post the actual WooSox game in a minute.

Side note, though - the main forum thread about letting certain employees go & this is somehow some financial thing or trying to get Breslow's guys in is kind of crazy.

They have evaluated people. They have decided which ones they want to move forward with & which ones they don't. They will take applications for those positions or maybe some new ones, and/or seek out qualified candidates, & hire the ones who fit what they're looking for the best.

Keeping people just because they've been somewhere forever is inefficient. But I never understand most brouhahas people have so I'm glad to stick to my corner of the forum where hopefully we will get some awesome new hires doing more cool & innovative things & staying on the cutting edge of player scouting & development.

The lack of 5s is killing me. I might boycott Polar Park until they invest in them.

After Dobbins, Chase Shugart allowed a run in 2 innings & Jose Adames pitched a scoreless 8th with a hit & 2 k.

Which led to Yohan Ramírez coming in for the 9th up 3-1. Going to go ahead & surmise that he & Teel might not be on the same page...

HBP
PB (Teel...)
Single (3-2)
FC*
CI (Teel's 2nd of the game...)
K (but run scores on WP, 3-3)
PB (WooSox lose, 4-3)

*Aramis Garcia reaches on a fielder's choice. Ethan Wilson to 2nd. Ethan Wilson advances to 2nd, on a missed catch error by shortstop Bobby Dalbec, assist to pitcher Yohan Ramírez.

All 4 runs were unearned again, too. This time after a Grissom missed catch in the 6th.

They are using actual 5s today (& yesterday)...

I guess I owe the WooSox a visit next Summer.

Yah I'm basically avoiding the Main Board at this point so don't know what arguments are being made. I will say that it seems like the scouting/drafting/player development folks have been kicking ass the last few years, so from my optics, that being someone with absolutely no inside look, it seems like a weird time to overhaul the system, if indeed that's what they're doing. Which might not really be the case.

They kept the key people in charge of the draft from the Bloom regime - Paul Toboni & Devin Pearson. & Eddie Romero & those IFA guys didn't go anywhere I don't think.

I missed that Mickey Gasper is playing 2B...

Out of all the MI combos I have seen, this is one of them.

Funny, that was the only place he played in Boston except a single inning at 1b.

I don't understand where the upside-down 2's came from--I was trying to figure out if I was missing the joke--but I am glad I wasn't the only one bothered. But Polar Park is 100% worth a visit. Try to take in a Saturday game so you can go on the field afterward (playing catch optional).

I agree, and the only time I have been able to get out there on a trip home last summer was for a game that never started due to a rainout. Just walking around the stadium was pretty cool.

My kids would love that. My oldest's favorite part is sitting close so he can say hi to people. Still working on when you should & shouldn't do that...

It's just a bit of a logistical challenge since we live across the country.
