Went to the game last night, had to leave when Johnson left due to work and family obligations.  Had seats down low (at least "low" in Pawtucket terms) in line with 3rd base, so hard to see what kind of break Johnson had on his offspeed stuff.

I do love him for one thing:  The man works FAST.  Catch the ball, get the sign, throw the ball.  Really kept the game going, especially in the first couple innings when the Pawsox were getting tons of runners on base, but squandering many of them.

Some notes:

Johnson's fastball was mostly 89-91, but he had a couple that rang up a 93 and one at 94.  Not sure how often he can hit that number.  Offspeed stuff ranged from high 70s for a nasty curve that had a few Bulls missing badly, to mid 80s for what was either a slider or a cutter (couldn't tell from our vantage).  He did shake off Lavarnway once that I noticed (Ryan wasn't calling the pitches, they were coming from the dugout) which resulted in a hard double.

Rusney had no plays beyond the most simple in CF.  His first inning single was a line shot to LF off of a pretty quick fastball from Colome (who still wears his hat crooked).  de Jesus's triple should have been a single but the CF dove for it and it got by to the wall. Relay to third was late and very high but bounced off of the wall back to Colome, who was late backing up the bag.

Brown's HR was a nice shot to right centerfield.  The Bull HR was a no doubter to the berm in left.

Lavarnway's "RBI groundout" was a topped ball about 30 feet down the firstbase line that Colome chose to play to first instead of trying the play at the plate to get Rusney.  Probably a good choice for a righthander instead of having to spin around to make the awkward throw home.  Lavarnway's defense behind the plate was good, blocking quite a few balls in the dirt (especially on back to back 3rd strike curveballs where he easily got the tag on the batters).

4100 in the stands for the final game at McCoy this year.
