Two lefties in a 1:05 p.m. start. J.A. Happ vs. Sean Manaea, making his first start of the season. Manaea just threw 7 scoreless innings for Las Vegas, striking out 12. He no-hit the Red Sox in 2018.

I would like to say something positive about Happ. Trying. Fly ball pitcher against a powerful lineup, small park, day game. Not helping.

Yanks need to score a dozen runs today. They are capable.

Manaea threw 99 pitches in his last AAA start, so no real pitch count for him today.

Severino and Encarnacion both playing for Scranton today, Severino was rusty but threw 33 pitches, Encarnacion has singled and HBP with the bases loaded (just a curve that clipped him, he was laughing afterwards evidently). Encarnacion is expected back as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday, yay.

Gets out of it, but not sure how much more he can go. Normally they might pull him here even, but the bullpen is mostly the (hopefully) warm bodies who came up today.

Happ starts the 5th with 2 walks and then, actually gets out of it....for a change...now please Aaron give us a chance to move on before he lets the roof fall in
Move on to who? Just curious what your plan is here, they didn't even want to use Green or Gearrin yesterday but they had to. Cortes threw a lot of pitches Friday.

Cessa also pitched a lot on Friday, Chance Adams might be the next guy in. Given that, I'd let Happ at least start the inning.

Clint ripped the ball his first AB, Manaea looks like he wants no part of him.

I know he's gonna send Happ back out because, that's what he does, but if he walks the first batter...please god
Please god bring in Chance Adams? I say please god let Happ try to get through an inning over bringing in Chance Adams, but that's me.

He got through the top of the order on 9 pitches, 98 after 6. They probably don't have Kahnle or Green today, Britton says he's fine but they might want to give him the day anyway, they do have Ottavino and Chapman but they might try to get one more inning out of Happ.

Dull pitched for the A's for a bunch of years, they dumped him earlier this year, I think.

Dull is 30 in October FWIW, he is fighting for his career.

And that's why I would have left in Happ even longer.

My best friend who has lived in NY all her life is at the game. So far it has been a good one for her to watch!

The Yankee shutout streak is in jeopardy, I think they're up to the second longest streak ever of not being shut out, behind only a Yankee team from the thirties.

Managing for the big picture today. If home field mattered, maybe Boone wears out his regular bullpen. Not doing that today.

Home field matters a lot, both Boone and Hinch will tell you that. That doesn't mean you treat each day like a wild card playoff game, though.
