Are all these young guys actually just really, really good? I've been waiting for regression. Still am. I just can't believe it.

we are simply abusing bad teams and we're doing it largely with our second squad...this is very unlikely to work in the playoffs
NY has the best record against above .500 teams of any team in baseball.

And with this, I just learned that the Reds were still the Redlegs in 1956

I know it's the O's, but soooo good to see Paxton pitch like this. Feels like he's figuring it out.

Paxton at 75 pitches through 5, would be great if he could get through 7.

The Lindsay Adler piece in The Athletic this AM made it seem like he had figured it out although not sure why it took this long. The big thing is last game he went back to throwing his curve as much as he had in previous years, it's his only pitch with a huge velocity difference from his FB.

I know this is weak speculation, but I still wonder if Paxton and Britton were wary of throwing tough breaking stuff to Sanchez when the season started. Or if maybe Sanchez was a little reluctant to call it. Probably nonsense, I know.

It is nice to have a guy like Judge who can reliably hit singles and doubles. Don't need much more when he is surrounded by so many power hitters. :)

I know you're joking, but I'm starting to really think that the oblique is still an issue and his power just isn't gonna be there this year.

One thing that would be telling on Judge is how he looks in batting practice, I haven't seen any reports on that.

It'll be interesting to see if Boone has the balls to hit Tauchman and Gio where they belong if this keeps up. Same goes for Stanton coming back.
Sanchez is a bigger problem. If he comes back in the same slump, we may have an issue on our hands.

YES flashed a graphic a couple innings ago that Romine and Higgy are hitting .353 with 17 RBI in 15 games since Sanchez went down.
The thing about backup players is the more the play, the more they expose why they are backups.
Tauchman is another case. He might not be a backup guy at all. We’ll find out by next summer.

Is Gio the best third baseman in MLB right now? Maybe he's a flash in the pan, but it's one hell of a flash.

Yeah, Gio is playing great, but let's not go nuts. Alex Bregman says hello also.

Also checking stats, Eduardo Escobar (tied for the MLB lead in RBIs with 92), Moustakas and Moncada are all probably ahead of Gio too.
