Hey! It didn’t go off! Temporary stay of execution. I’ll take it, let’s do it again, minus the crappy bullpen performance just maybe?

Didn’t think Rick had it in him...happy to be wrong.

This is the mlb.tv free game of the day - and will be another Red Sox win. Think donutogre will be starting game threads for a while.

I'd really like to be seeing more Marco right now- at 2nd, SS and 3rd as he seems a great Nuñez replacement- better offense, better defense- but I get that they're still "in it".

I would like to see Chavis at 1st and Marco at 2nd in most games next season. Even this year, more at-bats should be coming his way.

As much as I adore BROCKHOLT, I expect some other team will value his versatility more than the Sox, and he's gone, so you will probably get your wish. Both of those guys have a lot of promise.

I, too, would like to see more Marco. I wonder if they're keeping him off SS and 3B in the near-term after the shoulder stuff.

But I am just glad to see that Betts's foot didn't turn to dust.

You won't be seeing Marco because he's back in Pawtucket. When they brought up Johnson and Weber they sent him back.

I know and regret that. They got value from Weber, but he should be shuttling back. Very pessimistic about Johnson’s usefulness.

Grant Williams throwing out the first pitch. The Sox may also use him in a high leverage situation tonight as well.

And to be clear, "high leverage" is defined for this season as any Red Sox defensive half inning.

I have broken up with this team so many times this year, but I just can't seem to walk away. Win. See what happens.

While it might be true that other teams value him more Holt has always talked about how much he loves Boston and wants to be a Sox lifer, the kind of guy who they introduce at Fenway years after he's retired, so I can definitely see him staying for less if the money is close.

I don't even want the out, so dumb. That isn't the spirit of the game in my opinion.

But isn't this why people want robot umps to call balls/strikes? To make sure every play is called exactly right?
Fair point. I'd prefer the version that beeps in their ear and keeps ultimate authority with the ump, but your point stands.

I don't want robot umps.

I just want fairly and competently called games, with the understanding that blown calls usually fall 50/50. If you have to play the replay at super-slow motion from an angle not avaialble to the ump (s) , tough shit.

Well Jerry, Clay Buchholz is from Texas and I never thought of him as "Big". Granted he's 6'3 but nothing else is big about him. (I don't think)
