2017 was the first year Judge was productive. He wasn't even sure to start out of spring training in 2017 after his horrible 2016 showing. It was was supposed to be the year of Bird and Sanchez. Instead, the Yankees became a juggernaut when Didi, Betances, Judge and Severino all emerged as stars.
Betances had already made three All-Star games by 2017. It's true that Judge and Severino both really blossomed that year, but both were big prospects, I don't get the parallel but it's ok.

The parallel is that it was surprising seeing things coming together that year as we made it to game 7 of the ALCS. The Yankees were 30 to 1 odds to make it to the WS at the start of the season. If you asked me where we would be without everyone we lost this year, I'd say 30-1 odds to make the playoffs. Especially when you look at how bad the rotation has been.

Holder clearly at his limit, of course Aaron never stops trying to cheat just a bit more...otoh it seems to be his only consistent fault with these guys...
Tonight I can't blame him, I have no idea what he expects to do after Tarpley.

9 relievers on the team right now, with only 4 SPs. Holder and Tarpley have pitched so seven other guys.

Britton, Chapman and especially Kahnle all maybe available but all have pitched three of the previous four days.
Green pitched Saturday and Sunday but they probably have him although he is not used to pitching this often.
Cessa threw 42 pitches on Sunday (1 day rest).
Cortes Jr. threw 44 pitches on Saturday (2 days rest).
Ottavino should be available.

That will go down as the worst play of the year. Feel bad for him, will never live that down. He can now join Tommy Lasorda on the all-time blooper reel.

The parallel I see is how often the Yanks have won over the past three seasons. Even in the late Girardi years, they generally overachieved, especially in 2017. Winning 100 games last year, the whole seemed greater than the individual parts. This year, the extra production is awesome.

Wow. Orioles’ LF just had a fly ball bounce off his head while he was trying to make a sliding catch.

If the Yanks score 12 runs, is that enough tonight?

They need to get Stewart out. He looks awful out there, like he wants to throw up.

I always want to do violence to a fan who gets in the way of his own team making a play.
In his defense, I don't think he expected Tauchman to have a chance and pulled up at the last moment when he saw that he did.

Why do lefty fielders always look so graceful?

Tauchman reminds me of O’Neill in some ways, including the fire he exhibits.

Calling an Orioles win tonight unless Tauchman hits two more homers and makes three more outstanding defensive plays.

Romine is probably gone after this season right? Mentioned by YES crew earlier (free agent).
He's really not that good, he's fairly good at framing but he has a lousy arm and pretty much never hits, this past week aside. If NY chooses to give him a few million to be the backup again, I'd guess he'll be back.

Who knows, but with 2 on in the last inning (high leverage) one would think it should've been Ottavino in and not Cortes Jr. on 2 days rest. Just an opinion.

That shot of Tauchman and Judge in the dugout was great, two of the most facially expressive Yankees.
