Dear DJ,

I've been calling some guys out lately, but not you. Just wanted to say thanks for everything you've done so far. We're big fans of your work around here, both in the batter's box and in the field. We may come from different fields, but our group of professionals recognizes and appreciates another.

About the games today, I hope you'll be able to play in both of them. I understand you still may be recovering a bit from injury, but if you can go, they need you. As mentioned previously, Judge isn't himself lately. Actually, nobody named Aaron is doing great over the last handful of games or so. Hicks hasn't looked good either. That will pass for both of them, I'm sure. But until it does, I'm afraid more may be needed from you today.

Respectfully,

EE

PS: Not every team has one, but every teams needs a laconic, cold-eyed killer on the roster. You're ours. Much respect.

Really really don't understand Tauchman sitting again, this lineup needs him right now.

Small sample size of course, but Tauchman has been great against lefties. Gardner is not. This will be two lefties in a row that Tauchman has sat against. To be honest, I'm a little concerned about his health.

I don't think Tauchman can be hurt or he'd be on the IL, NY can't be playing a doubleheader with two guys day-to-day/out (Didi too). I don't get this decision at all though, Tauchman already homered against Sale this year, in April.

Didi is feeling better, Boone says, and could be a backup today, so that's good news.

Devers takes away an extra base hit from Higashioka, though he still gets a single.

Valera with a chance to make his mark.

Yeah, I'd rather see Tauchman than Gardner with the bases loaded against a left-handed pitcher. But Gardner doesn't care and comes through anyway. Of course he did.

Still behind but that 2-2 call against Judge was as bad as it gets, robot umps now.

Meanwhile if stuck with the NESN broadcast, Remy and O'Brien whine every inning about the porch...apparently there is an invisible force field that makes it impossible for the opposing team to hit there...
That really sucks. Bob Costas is in the YES booth today, and while I have never been a big fan of his, it has been really good. Not least because it is obvious that O'Neill and Cone are a little starstruck and are trying hard to mind their Ps &Qs. Good stuff.

Costas will be there for game 2, yes. He’s really been pumping his lifelong Yankee fandom, I doubt he’s had a chance to do that during a game before.
