Was strike 3 to Betts outside?
Yep.
Is it the EXACT SAME PITCH that turned into a rally-killing double play when Romine was called out on a 3-2 pitch last night?
Yep.
Pull up the Gameday App or something and start looking at some of these pitches you're getting overheated about. Blue's been terrible. And, "what happens in the sport," or whatever condescending phrase you used, is that pitchers' performances can tend to suffer when they have to give the opponent 5 outs an inning. Announcers are talking about the league experimenting with "RoboUmps" as I write—because of the strike 3 call to Mookie. Not familiar with you but you're on the edge of trolldom today.

As much as I tried to talk myself into believing they would make this weekend at least respectable...deep down I had a strong feeling this shit show was coming.

Funny thing about Bronkees is, I don't remember all that many Yankee trolls in recent years. JA and his crew have done a good job keeping that from happening

I'm sure Sale will say all the right things after the game.
I'm sure he is at a loss for words. What else can he say? This was one of his worst performances ever as a MLB pitcher. He'd be in AAA if it was anyone else. I won't be surprised if he ends up on the DL after today.

I mean, I feel for the guy. Ultimate competitor, it's gotta be absolutely crushing for him as well.

Just checking in. Fox never mentioned that 3rd pitch strikeout to Urshella called a ball in the 4th inning. Granted, Sale needed to overcome that, but shitty umpiring cost the Red Sox this game.

Same pitch called a strike on the first pitch to Encanarcion his next time up.

That pitch to Urshela changed the game. I assume that’s what Cora was on about.

That Sale loss to the MFY's a week ago, at Fenway, after winning the first 3 of the 4 game series in awesome fashion really felt like a nut punch that they haven't recovered from and it looks to be the undoing of the season.
A sweep of that series would have put the Sox in the WC and been 7 out of the series while putting a serious scare into the MFY's- exposing their weakness to the league, going with momentum into that Rays series.
Instead, Sale served up a big turd and you could feel the optimism and broken momentum and frustration that carried over into that Rays series. This season right now was broken on that one game. Chris Sale. Again... looks like he's a big game failure! David Price shook his demons off but Chris Sale hasn't yet

see, I feel like the first Rays loss was when things got broken, when they had several RISP chances late to salvage the game and couldn't do it. then Porcello and Cashner gave them little chance to win the next two games.

They should be looking into every aspect of how they draft, develop, sign, coach, and train pitchers. They invested hundreds of millions of dollars and a ton of prospect capital into this rotation, and they were great for one year. Now they are not competitive with even mediocre MLB competition. Is it a coaching issue? Did everyone in the rotation show up out of shape in February? Was that the reason why they backed off everyone in Spring Training, or was it just a horrible idea that they need to scrap? Dombrowski and ownership should be having these meetings Monday morning and start re-staffing certain areas of the organization immediately. There is just simply too much money invested in this club to be this bad against good competition.
