Momentum is a fun train to ride. Climb aboard the 2020 New York Yankees freight train, which just splattered the Red Sox onto the tracks like a cartoon character in the old Roadrunner series. Next up is a team from Philly that hasn’t played a game in eight days.

Joe Girardi’s Phillies only had a couple positive tests after losing two of three in their season-opening series against the Miami Strip Club Marlins, but they got shut down anyway. They return to action tonight against the Yankees, in New York, with some rain possible. Girardi’s Homecoming. The fans would give him a big cheer if they were allowed in the park.

The Yankees have won six straight. Aaron Judge has hit six homers in his last five games, five of them bombs. All six have either tied a game or put the Yankees ahead. Last night he made a shoestring catch in right. Aaron Judge does it all.

Gerrit Cole, as dazzled by Judge as the rest of us, goes for his third win tonight. Philly counters with Jake Arrieta,, making his first start since last Aug. 11.

The bullpen has been carrying the team in non-Cole games, I think only 5 ERs total allowed in 29 innings over the six game winning streak, with contributions from I think ten different guys.

NY gained 5 games on TB in 5 days, they were 1 game behind Wednesday morning (4-1 to 2-1) and 4 games up now (7-1 to 4-6). Thank you Orioles!

Cessa looks like he's being activated today, I'll guess Avilan gets DFAd.

Lot of energy on twitter last night related to Andujar & Frazier.

I will be a happier fan once we resolve our limbo players.

Yeah, really. Shouldn’t Miggie be the guy in Scranton, learning how to field? Clint did that last year.

Yeah, I'm all for stockpiling depth but NY really should trade at least one of Andujar and Frazier.

Contradictory reporting on Cessa today, but it seems like he is ready to be activated but they are not doing so yet.

Tomorrow night's game is postponed because of the incoming storm, doubleheader in PHI on Wed.

So NY has a crazy schedule this week as of now, seven games in five days on the road:

Mon: PHI
Wed: @PHI (2) (NY is the 'home team' for one of these)
Thurs: @PHI
Fri: @TB
Sat: @TB (2)
Sun: @TB

They don't play the day before (tomorrow) or after (next Monday) at least.

Kind of scared of early season Didi, he had two HRs in three games before PHI got shut down. I wouldn't be unhappy if Cole pitched around him some.

O'Neill breaking up like crazy. I haven't seen any YES broadcasts yet - is this the norm? Pretty bad.

Phillies get 2 runners on in 4th with 1 out. Sharp grounder to third. Gio starts 5-4-3 DP. Routine stuff for this club.

Catching up just now, really don’t like Cole’s release point comparatively to the last few season. It’s so straight on, less sided, and thus easier to pick up. Used to be almost Okajima-lite in how diagonal it was to a batter at the pitch delivery point.

3-1 after five. Arrieta doing a good job and still losing. Cole might only go 6 innings tonight. Around 78 pitches heading into 6th.

I agree. He doesn’t seem dominant.

Jeez, between Voit and Urshela, this team showing they’re more than a bunch of beefy sluggers.

What an absolutely incredible individual effort, even if not in time. Wow.

If this goes final here, Cole will be the first Yankee with multiple complete games in the team's first 9 games since Ed Figueroa in 1978.
