I agree. unfortunately there is some smoke that some of them have been affected by it (Mookie's answer on the radio yesterday or today, some other sources saying players were expecting a move).
The funny thing is, if they were playing well, they would have a beef. But this team didn’t show up to play this season, so why should they expect the organization to do anything for this year?

I always think that this is sort of a funny situation. So in this allegedly happy locker room, players are saying that they're disappointed that some of their teammates weren't traded or replaced.

Any player expressing such sentiments has to immediately be asked which of their current teammates should have been sent away.

Let the players put pressue on their $90 million group of starters to start earning their money. Don't expect the FO to bail you out.

Oh please. They have a revolving door in the back of the bullpen and at the end of the bench. It hasn’t been the same 25 guys all season for crying out loud.

I'm already curious what the post-mortum press conference will be with DD / Cora. how many mistakes will be admitted? Cora has to be very humbled right now.

Usually my couch
Team meeting on the road after losing the first two? Bullshit...Have the team meeting at home when you lose the first two at home against Tampa...Having it today was more than enough to keep the beat guys out of the clubhouse on a day-night DH...If you are having a team meeting, have it at home when you are getting your ass kicked. But hey, when you bring guys out of the pen and they start the hitters off with off speed that is not around the plate, have fun with that. We saw the difference between a pen that can throw first pitch strikes as opposed to one who cant...It is what it is...Happy Birthday Brady

I’m glad you brought that up, do any of the teams ahead of them in the wild card race have a total team payroll that’s more than this rotations number? I doubt it.

To me the more interesting post mortem will be the one in October. Something is very wrong with the pitching staff, and it will be interesting to hear more about that. Maybe it’s random, but I doubt it

that's what I meant, the one in early October when the season is over.

Best part about losing a doubleheader on Saturday is we don't have to hear Felger and Mazz the next day.

Just a week ago they were rolling and just 8 games out, on the verge of sweeping the Yanks four straight with Sale going to the mound.

Six straight horrible losses later and we are on to football.

If not trading for a middle reliever has caused the defending champions to give up on the rest of the season then the team is a bunch of losers.
based on how the starters have gone, they should have traded for a long reliever, or three.

The Land of Fist Pumps
Playoff odds:

Mets 17%
Red Sox 14%

The stinkin Mets, who have been a punchline on this board for 2 months, have a better chance of making the playoffs than the Red Sox.

If not for 3 bad weeks we would be sitting pretty. As it looks now, we all are gonna have some free time in October

Don't give up, they have a lot more games left to play against much worse teams than the number of games they have left to play against teams as good as the ones they've been losing to.

Rays total team payroll = Sale + Price
It's almost as if the Rays have benefitted from drafting higher than the Red Sox and not having to trade away prospects in the heat of a pennant race (for guys they would never pay for in any case) to capture that elusive WS title (how many have the Rays won again?).

I mean that same payroll everyone complains about brought us a WS title just 10 months ago.

Did you miss the Orioles series 3 weeks ago?

Then there are those of us who don't watch football. Or hockey. Pretty meh with basketball. Guess it's a good thing I have an enormous backlog of video games stockpiled.
Yes well that's the beauty of being a year-round sports fan. There's always another sports season coming right up.

Personally, I worry about this being the peak of Boston sport - the 2018 Red Sox and Patriots both champs, the Celtics with one of the most talented teams in the NBA, and the Bruins marching towards the Stanley Cup.

And then....

The Celtics implode.
The Bruins choke badly in game 7 at home.
The Red Sox are an inexplicable disaster.

I'm not calling for doomsday, but I don't know if we'll ever get as close to four titles in a row as we were in, say, early May of 2019.

Well I guess the good news is the Pats aren’t on that list and the season is only a month away. Or was your post intended to foreshadow impending doom upon them too?

It’s been a tough season for the Red Sox there’s no question about it. But I’ll keep watching to the bitter end. Some evenings it will be background noise on the TV while I accomplish another task. Yet still I’ll tune in because it’s Red Sox baseball and that’s what I do. I watch baseball and the Red Sox are my favorite team. I watch, because six months from now, while I’m staring out into the white nothingness, i’ll be wishing I had some Sox baseball warm evenings to enjoy. But it’s here now, so I’ll try and enjoy every moment possible. The last week has been hard to watch... but a shit week of bad baseball is better than a week of no baseball.
