Bullpen troubles sink the PawSox, giving up six in the ninth in a 9-3 defeat.

Boxscore

Marcus Walden pitched a 1-2-3 eight with two Ks before running into issues in the ninth. Walden gave up a single and then got an out via a fly ball... before inducing two grounders which ended up as errors (one to Chavis, one to Ockimey) loaded the bases. A walk followed for the first of his four unearned runs, and he left to be replaced by Bobby Poyner. Poyner gave up four consecutive line-drive singles and then another bases-juiced walk; yielding all three inherited runners and two of his own before being dismissed in favor of Fernando Rodriguez. Rodriguez struck out the first batter he faced and then got a liner to center for the final out of the ninth.

Mike Miller mashed two doubles and a sacrifice fly in four matchups. Ivan De Jesus delivered two singles in four jaunts. Aneury Tavarez thumped a double and took a walk in four appearances. Kyle Wren ripped a single in four treks. Tony Renda reached with a base on balls in four trips. Josh Ockimey was hit by a pitch in four opportunities. Christian Vasquez put three balls in play (fly out, ground out, GIDP) before being replaced in the seventh by Oscar Hernandez who struck out in his one up. Michael Chavis and Sam Travis each struck out one during their quartet of contemptible contests.

Rusney Castillo did not play, but was honored by the International League by being named to their year-end All-Star Team. It is the second consecutive season Castillo has been named to the team.
