Weird game. 4-2 after 1, 4-2 after 9. Could feel it coming after the 5th or so.

Also, Yankees-Red Sox in under 3 hours. Spooky.

Outstanding win.

Very happy to see Paxton play better. I'll be even happier when Judge gets back on track. Maybe tomorrow.

This was a good all around game. It’s reassuring to see a quality start from Paxton because he will be a huge part in how far the team goes.

I wonder if Judge’s earlier oblique injury is still impacting his swing. He gets tied up on inside pitches like never before. No homers to left, lot of base hits through the old second base hole. What does that tell us?

That slider to get Benintendi, HOLY SHIT.

That takes a lot of pressure off the rest of this series for NY, and the A bullpen didn't have to throw too many pitches. How about Britton? That was one of the best innings he's had all year, Betts/Devers/Bogaerts on eight pitches seems like it would need divine intervention.

I think ideally Boone wouldn't want any position player to play all four games but I don't think that's possible with only two bench players besides the other C. Hopefully Tauchman gets the remaining three, way too hot to sit as we said earlier.

That's why I didn't get the lineup today. Makes way more sense to give Tauchman a game tomorrow instead of playing both, and Gardner was hopeless fresh off the IL against Rodriguez. Oh well.

Looking now, NY actually has 13 position players on the roster currently because they only have 4 SPs (plus Cortes Jr). I I haven't seen it announced yet but Chance Adams (held out of his AAA start tonight) seems like the most likely 26th guy, or maybe Wade back if Didi is still out.

Heh, no wonder Cone was so surprised when he threw that change (which did not look good):

James Paxton Pitch Usage

Season Tonight

4-Seam 63.7 52.0 (52/100)
Cutter 22.2 28.0 (28/100)
Curve 13.7 19.0 (19/100)
Change 0.4 1.0 (1/100)

There's more balance there and relying less on his FB definitely kept them off balance.

Only the 2nd time in franchise history the Yankees have won a game while only scoring on a grand slam. The other time was May 26th, 1978 when Gentleman Jim Spencer, he of the infamous Spencer clause, did so against Toronto.

well, it was fun dreaming for a little bit we could catch up.

have fun in October, it's going to be a bloodbath this year if the Indians make the ALDS.

Scranton is still playing because of a long rain delay. They were losing 5-1 in the 5th and then the top three in the order, Clint/Ford/Thairo, went 6-6 in back to back innings with a HR (Clint) and three doubles, 7 RBIs in those two innings between them and a 9-6 lead.
