The final (regular season) meeting of the year between these two teams, the season series is 3-3, so today will decide that. Also today ends the crazy 19 games in 17 days stretch that began with the Sox sweep, NY has gone 15-3 so far in this stretch despite very suspect pitching depth.

But that depth should get better as guys start to return, first up is CC today, with his first start in 3 weeks and his final (regular season) start ever against the team he came up with. Lindor, Ramirez and Santana collectively are hitting .415 lifetime against him (27 for 65), so it ain't gonna be easy, and it doesn't help that today's home plate ump Cuzzi is the guy who kicked CC out of Saturday's game. It also doesn't help that NY has used Kahnle, Britton and Chapman both of the last two days, so possibly none of them will be available today.

Astoria
I've been MIA because I'm buying a new car but man has it been fun to beat Cleveland and watch Gardy get angry.

Boone says he isn't going to let CC go too long, not totally sure how they plan to cover 9 innings today but it looks like the best options are Cortes Jr (just two days rest but just 7 pitches in that game so if that was like his throw day, he is well rested) and Cessa on 3 days rest.

and CC is back out there...sigh
They don't have someone to eat innings at the back of the pen today, Cortes Jr can probably go 4 or 5 but then it's Mike Ford again if CC doesn't get through another inning or two here.

Strikes out the side, and nice to see him touching 92 today, something to build on at least.

Ugh, so close to a double. 70 pitches for Clevinger through 3 at least, but the Indians pen is very well rested.

Throw strikes, Nestor, we might need six innings from you today.

NY trying to avoid being shutout for the first time in 200+ games, they have the 4th longest streak alltime currently.

The team in second place was losing 4-1 in the 8th and won 5-4.

As for getting guys back, I'm just reporting what I read, I'm not actually the team doctor.

Based on the last few years I've concluded the Yankee organization is unreasonably optimistic in it's reporting of all those on IL. The lack of any recent info concerning Stanton tells me he's not only gone for this year but, in fact, may even be done long term. Betances is the most likely to at least show up, with no one alble to predict what he can contribute.

Stanton held a press conference last week, he is ramping up, fully expects to be back this season and is aiming for 2-3 weeks of ABs before the postseason.
