The Indians have had an amazing run in recent years despite not quite winning it all, and their 2016 draft may have extended their window a few years. Usually if you get one solid player with your post-first round picks, you are doing OK, but in 2016 Cleveland somehow nabbed 3/5 of a young rotation from the 3rd round on:

3 (92). Aaron Civale. RHP
4 (122). Shane Bieber. RHP
12 (362). Zach Plesac. LHP

Bieber is the best of these but the other two have been quite good so far also, today we see Plesac, Dan's nephew, who shut down NY in Cleveland earlier in the season.

Have to miss most of this one too, another ugly first inning for Paxton. When Betances is back, NY really needs to start experimenting with openers for a few of their SPs, Paxton is first on the list.

That's kind of bullshit, the tag helped push him off the base, but we'll take the run.

For anyone who missed it, he threw a 97 MPH high fastball that was a strike but called a ball which should have ended the inning.

That Paxton 97 MPH pitch illustrates how valuable robot umpires could be. The HP umpire didn’t see the location clearly because Romine obstructed his view and sadly it could play an outcome in who wins the game.

Also both Civale and Plesac seem to pound the ball just out of the strike zone outside, called strike after called strike. Robot umps please!

13 pitches for Ottavino, might send him out for a second inning and try not to use all four guys today. If they do use all four, hopefully Britton and Chapman will still be available tomorrow with the off day Monday. They haven't used a reliever three straight days all year, but those guys both thrive on working a lot at times (they can of course get overworked too, but might be a time to break their 3 day rule if needed).

The Commissioner has surrounded himself with all really oldtimers, albeit a lot of ex-Yankees, all of whom are utterly opposed to such changes...just like with the obvious issues with the ball, it all gets 'studied' forever never reaching any useful conclusions...meant to obfuscate

Heh, someone on Twitter was bitching about Gleyber not hitting after his first AB. Good call, moron!

I feel like this is answering a question I didn't see, what changes do you mean?

Gleyber with 7 multi-HR games this season, the Yankee record is 8, done by Ruth, Mantle and A-Rod.

I'd be pissed too, two straight games that CLE has thrown fastball after fastball just outside and gotten strike after strike call.

Judge is going to have to play again on his scheduled day off because of ejections.

Yesterday the MLBN feed had a feature where they actually got Tanaka to give them closeups of his 'old' grips on his 4 main pitches and what he's doing now. He also said 'the ball is much smoother/slicker and the seams are much lower. The result is it's much harder to grip the ball and everything you do to throw it has less effect. The comparison showed all his grips now have his fingers splayed much further apart. basically he had to learn to exaggerate most of what he used to do to get the ball to perform the way it used to...and every pitcher knows this. meanwhile the Comissioner's study does everything it can to deny what the players all know....

I think the umps are still pissed about that Boone 'savages in the box' rant and they have been tossing Yankees very quickly since then.

Just because I doublechecked it, Gardner has an amazing .974 OPS in 179 PAs since June 9.

Whoa, everyone changed positions so they can keep Judge with the day off, Ford is in at 1B. Thairo to RF, Tauchman to CF, Maybin to LF, DJ to 2B.
